Some weekends don’t always go as planned. This was that kind of weekend.

The Chicago area’s Blackdog Speed Shop tunes, upgrades, and races all things GM. So, it’s no surprise that the company has long been involved  in the Pirelli World Challenge and has accomplished a number of wins. Hot shoe Lawson Aschenbach has been responsible for many of those podiums, with teammate Tony Gaples contributing a number as well.

LS1Tech was on the scene last weekend when Pirelli World Challenge visited Wisconsin’s Road America circuit on June 23 and 24 for an early Saturday practice followed by qualifying, with a race later in the day. Morning practice on Saturday is when things started to go wrong.

Aschenbach had suffered a suspension issue, which sent him off course and impacted the front of the car quite heavily in the morning’s practice. Unfortunately, this set the tone for the weekend.

Repairs on Aschenbach’s GT4.R Camaro started right away, leaving him no time for qualifying. He had to start from the back of the pack, if the car could be fixed in time. Damage was quite severe and nearly the whole entire front end, subframe included, had to be replaced.

Blackdog Speed Shop’s crew went to work replacing almost everything forward of the axle, including the hood, fenders, front bumper, lights, wheel well liners, and a plethora of cooling ducts and channels.
