Corvette Collective Dominates Texas Street Racing Scene

By -

C5 and C6 Corvettes make for one heck of a street racer, as we can clearly see in this short video.

There are many reasons why pretty much every Corvette from the C5 up is rabidly popular street racing machine. The main reason, of course, is that their LS powerplants are incredibly easy to coax max power from. With a little boost and the right tune, 800+ horsepower is almost a given. These cars are also relatively light, reliable, and hook pretty good with the right tire.

So it’s really no surprise that there are plenty of Corvette racers finding success on the streets, including the ones in this video from Shots By Jacob. The action kicks off with an F1A Procharged, automatic transmission car producing a claimed 900 wheel hp. The blue Corvette makes quick work of an 800 hp turbo Camaro, for starters. Then after getting jumped by a 1,200 hp Cadillac CTS-V, he actually keeps up until the Caddy pulls away at the top end.

Next, we get to experience a little ‘Vette-on-‘Vette crime as the blue car takes on an F1X-charged manual car. The 1,000 hp Corvette takes down his blue brother with little trouble, however, even though he has to row his own. The ‘Vette then wraps things up by beating a twin-turbo Mustang that nearly crashes into him. Because, you know, that’s what Mustangs do.

The action caps off with another Corvette vs. CTS-V battle. This time, the Caddy jumps again. But on the second go-round, it’s all ‘Vette. Proving once again that all things considered, few street racing platforms compare to the C5/C6. Especially given how cheap they are these days!
