Dyno Wednesday: LSX 454 Chevy Monza Spins the Rollers

The Chevy Monza was a weird little car. Not just in the way it looked, but because of what it was supposed to be. Would you believe that Chevrolet had initially planned to build this thing with a wankel rotary engine? It would’ve been like an all american RX-3. Those plans were eventually scuttled due to two things: rotaries are gas guzzlers, and it was the seventies. The fact that a 4.3 liter V8 was the more efficient option says a lot about the efficiency of the rotary.

Like nearly everything else on wheels, the Monza gets better with a little LS powered lovin’. This guy needs to roll his fenders though. I know the Hellaflush look is in and all but… smoke on the dyno is a problem.
