Nissan R34 Skyline with an LS3 Swap

R34 Swap

Sacrilege to Nissan fans everywhere, this R34 Skyline isn’t your average drift car. Instead of the glorious RB26DETT turbocharged six-cylinder engine, this Skyline has a properly sorted LS3 under its hood.

What’s even better about this R34 Skyline is that it’s one of the sedans, meaning you could potentially bring three of your friends along for the ride. Although, this one appears to have a full cage in the back of the car, negating that possibility.

The  video below was taken at a Russian drifting event and the car was piloted by Nikoya Tigaev. We’re not sure what else has been done to the drift car besides the engine swap and full cage, but this LS3 definitely doesn’t sound completely stock. It does sound absolutely phenomenal while sliding through the drift course though.

So here’s the question for you all, should all drift cars go to an LS platform, or is there room for variation? Also, why do you think so many drifters are swapping out their engines for LS platforms? Is it just the price point at which big power can be made, or does it have to do with the reliability?
