Default Power antenna raises when it wants to

Most of the time my power antenna will raise as soon as I start the car. But about 25% of the time, it won't raise until I have driven 1-5 minutes at most. Anyone experience this?

Well if no one knows, could someone tell me if a camaro antenna would fit in the power antennas place?

It will, but you'll need the whole mounting piece where it bolts inside of the spare tire well.

Not sure on the antenna, maybe the plastic worm gear inside is stripped, causing those weird symptoms. The headlights tend to do some weird stuff when their gears get stripped, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Very odd. I would check the electrical connections.

Mine just died in the UP position and would not retract back down after a while, no matter what I did or how hard I pushed on it, so I just recently swapped it out for a cheap Metra replacement and fabricated a Female to Female antenna adapter, and adapted the 3-prong connector off of the broken OEM antenna to re-use the stock wiring (to return to stock easily if need be). Even re-used the OEM rubber antenna grommet. Nobody has asked me yet why my power antenna is chrome/stainless steel and not black.

Another option I was thinking of was buying a hidden "stealth" antenna and routing it through the A pillar/headliner, and just unplugging the power to the stock antenna when it was in the down position. Unfortunately it would not go down.
