Getting closer to 10's....

Went to the track a couple weeks ago, ran a new PB.. 11.20@121.65, 1.51 60'.
Thinking the 10 bolt has finally had enough, no more drag strip til a 9" goes in..
Here's a pic and video.. Small cam, LT's and a 100 shot Nitrous outlet plate kit(wet), A4 3200 stall, 3:73 gears.

Congrats on new PB. That's a really nice picture with the wheels up. Wish mine would pull a littler higher just once for a good picture. Cold air would probably put you at a 10.9??? Is your stock 10 bolt getting noisy? I'm wondering how much longer mine will last.

Thanks, love that pic, wish the fence wasn't in the way... I actually hung with that bike to the 300' mark, couldn't believe it.. He ended up running a 9.77. When I used the DA calculator(not sure how accurate they are), my corrected time was 10.90@123.98. It was pretty warm and muggy when I ran the 11.20, I may go this fall when it's cooler and give it one more shot this year. My 10 bolt has always had whiny gears, they were in it when I bought it.. But my wife never really noticed before my last visit to the track. So if she can hear it, probably not many launches left..

Great pic and nice video ,man ! Congrats on the new PB as well. I've been thinking about a 125 hit for my ride in the near future myself.

Are you spraying off the line or do you have a window switch or a progessive controller helping you leave ?

Sweet !! I'm going to find out more info on nitrous and how to set it up right the first time. I don't plan on spraying much ,but when I do , I want it to perform good and safe .

I think a 150 hit will put in the 10's now !! :)

It's a full weight car with A/C, so whatever a T/A weighs plus 350-400 lbs(includes me, stereo, cage, sound deaden-er, etc)

QA1 12 way adj shocks, Front(coilovers 315 lb springs) and rear(not coil over and unsure of spring rate), Spohn chassis mount T/A, BMR tubular Chrome moly LCA's, Spohn rear drag sway bar, Panhard. I was very happy with all the changes, car launches hard, level and straight every pass now. Too bad I don't trust the 10 bolt anymore.. Will have to wait and try for 10's til next year when I have a 9"...

Same car, but about 3 years ago.. Just to give you an idea of how the suspension changes, also, changed the launch.. Before and after..

My suggestions:

1. Quit drinking and peel off a few lbs.....

2. Quit sprayin and man up with NA cubes....

3. OK with 9", btw....

I know.. Not happening... It is, what it is.. I'll get it there next year, as it sits(I hope).. Well with a 9" being the only difference..

Thats a good launch. Our cars are pretty close to each other time wise excpet i'm all motor. Whats your 1/8th mile et/mph?

Jasperstang308 Aug 2, 2011 12:08 PM

why a 9in? wouldnt a 8.8 be lighter and have has less parasitic drag?

That's an option also... Won't be doing anything til next spring.. Just a street car for the rest of the year..

Jasperstang308 Aug 2, 2011 01:53 PM

seems like it would be a better option it would be cheaper and still hold the power you are putting down

I know a couple people who have made 8.8's.. Need to do some research on the subject..

Thanks, I was very happy with all the runs that day.. We cruise the beach all the time.. You didn't see me running around? You should PM me next time you're in town..

Someone I know runs the same time as you.Same setup. Nice run.I hope the rear does'nt break at the drag strip.I always hated brakin stuff there.Flatbed it home.
