Default First time out on new build 11.22 @119

first pass off the trailer on my new build. Still need to setup the suspension and tune the carb.
Setup is a 383 ls1, Forged RA, AI ported/milled 243s, AI custom grind, Super victor, Mark Sullens E85 carb, Kooks 1 7/8s LTs, TH400 RMVB, tbrake, Moser 9", Et street pros.
I need to get it dialed in on motor then im spraying a 250 on the fogger and 100 on the plate. I need to sort out a few issues then im going back for a 10. My trans wasn't wanting to shift so it hit off the limiter a few times.
Also im sending my converter off for a reflash since this one was off a turbo car.

Im only good for 11.50s because I have a 6pt and I have ttops. I need an 8pt to go faster.

Your 1/8th mile trap is huge compared to your 1/4 trap. What rpm are your crossing the line at?

Im not sure what you mean by that? but my rpm wasn't consistent as I was having trans issues. You can hear on the top end that the rpms would raise and lower. I had get out of it in order to get it to shift, then get back in it. my 2nd pass It went 14.27 @ 121. I got on the trans brake and it didn't hold so it jumped forward and I redlighted. so I got on the brake and made the pass. my 1/8th mph was the exact same but my trans shifted better. my last pass, the idiot set me up on a pro tree without telling me, so I was waiting for separate ambers. I had a .594 rt, 1.65 60', 98 mph 1/8th and ran 11.40 @115. that pass my 3rd gear didn't engage at all.

what he meant above was that the mph gain from 1/8 mile trap to 1/4 mile trap was much lower than you would expect on a car of that power level , you only gained 21mph on the last half of the pass that would be pretty normal for a 13 second car not for a low 11 sec car. Either there is a power loss happening in the top half or a gearing/tire height mismatch where your not currently crossing the traps at the optimum rpm for your setup. Rectify that issue and you will likely crack 10's before spray

As an example when my 1/4 mile mph was 119 my 1/8 mile was 93.

oh ok I gotcha. I would think power loss on top end. at WOT top end it was dropping and raising rpms on its own. I thought it felt a little weird. I still need to tune the carb but it may be fuel delivery issue or a bad ground on my msd box. thank you for the info man!

no its an NHRA track. but we looked it up and the track tech guy was wrong. Im good to 11.0 with ttops but they just have to be on while racing. im going to print it out and bring it with me next time.

A legal 6-point should be good to 10.00 in your car, same as a hardtop. Unless there has been a rule change recently

I'm thinking that trans needs a rebuild if it's having shifting issues.....should be clean and firm to hold the power.
Also if you plan on spraying that much **** through the motor, you will need a REALLY tight *** converter. One that literally bogs the thing on motor in order to be able to handle the 300 foot pounds of torque spike when hosing it.......

Yea im pulling the trans soon and sending off the converter for a reflash. I actually made a post about the trans in the auto trans section.
