Low lift truck cam daily n/a 11 sec Z28 I did this back in October last year and I decided I wanted to get some feedback on my setup and officially join the club, So feel free to qritique it if you want, it's a super simple OEM reliable setup I can drive anywhere. 2002 Z28 all original onyx black with saddle tan leather chrome snowflake t-top 3 channel A4 3.23 car 107,xxx miles. DA that night looks to be about under 300' above sea level. whats the tune setup on it, mail order or custom tune? nice ET but would of thought the trap speeds be a bit higher though given the 1.6 sixty and the 3.73s. are you planning on running a taller tire setup? |

I have a good friend who has hp tuners. The car was street tuned with a good wideband and then he just touched up the timing a bit on a local mustang dyno. I'm going to see how far I can go on the stock wheels and stock size tires. I think I can push these nittos a bit quicker, plus I like that my car still looks completely stock. It's kinda my thing! |
you can go on dragtimes.com and they have a DA adjustment calculator that you plug in the track location and date and then select the time that you ran and it'll give you what the DA is for that point in time. edit-I agree on looking stock. I have a quiet factory catback with a cutout for when I want to get noticed lol. |
I wish I still had the factory Z28 catback in one piece to go behind my cutout, it's pretty much impossible to get the tailpipes in perfectl alignment again once they are cut off the original muffler Thanks for the info, I'll try and look at some of my earlier attempts and see what the weather was |
you just need to take it to a better exhaust/muffler shop  also you can still find them around on fb marketplace or CL if you look hard enough, even can use the ones off the LT1 fwiw. mines so quiet ppl think its a v6 since I removed the z28 badges :jest: |
I'll keep looking for one. In the meantime I bought a new cam to try with a little more intake duration and overlap to better take advantage of the converter and I want to try disconnecting the front sway bar as well. My car is black and still has it's Z28 badges on it no cosmetic mods at all |
Very cool build man, I'm loving these more DD friendly type builds that fly under the radar a bit yet still run some impressive times. |

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...b0cf85d912.jpg I reinforced the stock exhaust outlets with 3/8" bar stock welded in, so in case it ever wheelies too hard, I just don't want it to mash them and restrict my exhaust flow |
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...6b124eb033.jpg alright I'm going to swap BTR stage III truck cam in my Z28 for a another lower lift stick, the summit 8714. Then I'm going to get back to work on that Ferrari F40 I've been working on |
That summit cam is what I have been thinking about running in my carbed 6.0L S10. Please update when you have it up and racing! |

Hard to say, the motor is also stock. But it runs 11.90s pretty consistently in my 3000 lb S10. |
Guys I've got the summit 8714 in the car and it is running great. I've been playing with the setscrew on the throttle body and got the car running pretty well, but I think if it becomes to inconsistent or doesn't want to start when hot or something I'll just drill a small hole in the blade so I can close it back some more for better tip in and to keep the idle from hanging. For now it Idles great at a commanded 800rpm swinging only about 50-60 rpm each way, it does sound pretty darn mean and it definitely feels noticably stronger than the other cam above 4k. I can't wait to get back to the track for a new best et! |
Wow! Your car is truly exceptional. You could probably runs 10's with a little squirt of nitrous. :thumb: |
