Will it run 11's??? My car was running 12.5's, then the tranny let go. So I am having the trans built, everything beefed up, and added the Yank 2800. I drive this car 150 miles round trip to work on nice days, so I went really short on the converter.. My buddies car went from 13.0 to 12.5's just changing to this verter. Curious if I will see the same gain... I have taken a really streetable nova that ran 11.1's and through mods took it to a 9.2 race car (on motor). But it basically became a trailer queen. So I am no longer after every tenth. |
I might but I don't personally think it will with beefing the tranny up and going with a small converter. Where do you race at in MD? |
I race at Cecil. The Camaro on Wed, a Hayabusa on Sat/Sundays. |
Looking at your sig, it seems like either you have a strong car, or a good track with good air. Either way, you've got a real shot at 11s in my opinion. |
What all did you do to the nova to make it run from an 11 to a 9???? On motor |
Idk maybe..... strongest I've seen out of stalled/ minor bolt on cars around here is around what your running now..... the fastest being 12.4Xs@113 on ET streets with cool night air and a good tune also has 3200 converter. But you never know till you try good luck!!! |
The car ran 13.3 stock. That was with 275x40 17 tires, I believe those short tires really help (act like it has better gearing than 3.23. Most of the cars I have seen run 13.5 +-. stock so I think it runs good. Also, the cats are gutted (added 2mph and .2. Nova: Started with a 10 to 1 383, roller cammed, good heads. evolved to a "set to kill" 383 with compression and great heads (10.2's) then evolved to a 540 that was prtty wicked for old school parts. I spent a lot of time and money in trans and converters. These LS1's are just amazing. If I learn the ins and outs, I would love to build a low 10 sec street car.. With 3.42-3.73 and a modest stall. |

I have had the fortune of being at Cecil on days that the track was prep good. On regular days, the car slows down by .2, mainly because I have to peddle it out of the hole. |
With a the stall, gears, and longtubes.... it's possible. Cecil is one the best tracks, hell Ranger set the best STOCK C6 Z06 record is there 10.8@127, tires only. With a great track prep and a cool October day or night there's a shot I think but you'll need one hell of a 60' though. Just curious but are you the fella who has the turboed busa that runs there? |
No turbo on my busa. I have the black 07, some engine mods, 9.2's.. The problem is I am 235lbs. I have the unoffical record with 46 passes last Dec 1st. |
I still wish i had your courage. I am 145lbs and that would most likely frip backwards on top of me at the line, lol |
Well at 145lbs, and 20lbs per tenth on a bike, you would run mid 8"s.. It isn't as difficult as you think. Well I plan to head back to Cecil next Sat the 21st, with a Yank 2800. Based on my estimates, I believe it will run in the 12.1-12.0 range... |
