Broke a piston on 17 lbs WHY!!!
Anyways, in the thread about the twin turbo 67 nova wagon , he explained terrible fuel distribution. So bad that even after trying deflectors to get better atomization, he still tossed in the towel and went to stacked injectors on the runner. When he stated the terrible idle issues, I immediately went to stacked injectops instead also.
In this case, carbed, yes the carb can be perfect, but that doesnt mean the intake will be all the time. It might be possible and even likely in this case that even with a safe tune, that one cylinder went lean and detonated.
The question is, who did the same thing........injected.

There are TONS of cars out there running blowthru carbs with no distribution problems......it is not a new idea. Gordon's (the guy who makes EV blowthru hats) personal motor is making 2100hp witha blowthru carb.
The problem with injectors at the throttle body is the angle in which they are pointed. Carbs fuel is discharged straight down.
Look at the turbo buicks, bad distribution problems, even though it took 15 years to find out. The real way to find out is put the intake, carb and hat that it uses on a flow bench. Measure each port than you know.
sure a single afr meter after all 8 cyl could show up as ok... some cyl rich+ some lean = ok afr.

I dont know man......how could we be right? I d bet the intake was just made, not designed at all. Do we even know what intake is on it? Or knock system? I havnt really been paying attention.
Flow the intake system........put together. Should cost a couple hundred bucks at most. And or 8 egt probes, or atleast two widebands. Technology, isnt it great.
Thanks
but blazingfast, where are you located??? There's a really badass GTO in your bodystyle that I saw at greer (sc) the other day running similar numbers with a twin turbo LS2 setup.

regardless, hope you get it figured out and back up and running soon. Sounds like a great car.
