I never got better than a 2.0 60' until getting the converter. I also did converter and DR's at the same time. These two mods alone took me from 2.0 with 13.0 to a 1.7 and 12.27.

Let me know if I need to clarify more than that. I'll be happy to try.

I did. As mentioned before, 17psi and a looooong burn out before I saw any improvement. Decent street tire though.

Answered what I was debating. Ordered my convertor today.

Thanks

I added a drag pack with 555r's in the rear. I also removed the front sway bar. DA is much lower than on previous runs. ~500-600 last night vs 1800 previously. Car ran VERY consistent E/T's but I never truely dead hooked like I did on the Toyo TQ's. Could have a bit to do with lower track temps but probably has a bit to do with the tires. Looking back, I should have done a bit more burnout on these 555r's. I was really hoping to go sub 12's, but never quite made it.

you cant get much closer to 11's ! and with how consistent you are pass to pass I bet you get it next time. Nittos typically need more burnout than other dr's so I bet your correct on that as well.

Thanks fellas. I knocked off exactly .2 and gained 2 mph my best previous E/T's. But I was really expecting to go sub 12.

Things that helped gains:
~1200 reduction in DA
drag pack reduced 60lbs
front sway bar removal

Hurt gains:
harder tire compound
cooler track temps (~ 50 deg on last pass)

What do you think was the largest contributing factor in these gains? DA or weight reduction?

I would say da. I've read that 1000' reduction in da is good for .1 or 10hp. With that said, 60lb reduction isn't going to give you 2mph, but it helped some of that (.05 maybe?).

But its 60lbs of rotating mass and 44lbs of it is off the front end.

it's really hard to say, too many things changed. The only thing you know for sure is that what you did plus da was good for .2 And 2mph. You can try to calculate previous runs and these runs to 0 da and possibly get a ballpark of how much the non-da changes affected things.

Good idea. But I've only found a calculator that goes down to 1200 DA. My [email protected] was at 1800 DA which would calculate to [email protected] at sea level. Not sure how to convert the [email protected] @ 500 DA to sea level.

Here you go. Find your track, date, and time closest to run. http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-altitude-calculator.php

It appears that you are correct Brian.

Previous run of [email protected] at 1800 DA converts to [email protected]

Friday run of [email protected] at 500 DA converts to [email protected]

So this calculation seems to lean toward DA being the largest factor of my gain by a long shot. This also seems to suggest that the drag pack and front sway bar removal didn't really benefit my car much.

.05 was a pretty good guess on my part . Let's say you didn't make those changes and you add that .046 in. Now you're looking at 12.07. Every little bit helps. The only thing you were missing to run 11s was the toyos. I've read that you lose .1 in the 60' as soon as you spin a little. I went from 1.62 With a slight spin on the toyos to a 1.52 dead hook on slicks. All in all, I'd be happy with .05 from what you changed. Get it to hook and you'll be 11.90

I appreciate your responses man. Makes sense to me.

BTW, race weight this time was 3440.

Nice times, there right on par with the mods. Great job with everything and keep chipping away. Good suspension is a main key to bolt on cars' success. You still have a good bit you can bring that 60' down. You do that and that et will fall dramatically.
