New to the club! Shoot me some advice

First time at the track. Shoot me some advice. For starters I know the tire pressure should’ve been lower and the AC should’ve been off. I did bog a little because my launching RPMs were too low.

Why did you run with the AC on?

Tuskyz28 09-27-2018 06:27 AM

What was your tire pressure?

98CayenneT/A 09-27-2018 06:47 AM

Do a quick clutch slip when launching at around 4-4500 rpms.

Get some bias plys for best times or at the very least a set of radials.

That’s a little confusing because I hear some people say drop it at 4-45000rpms and others say slip the clutch. Regardless, I never had the chance to try higher rpms because the second I would stop at the start line the Christmas tree would start lighting up. Never had enough time to hold up rpms and get the clutch pedal where I wanted (I have a high engaging clutch).

looks like DA was about +1075 at that track and date/time

Fixed it. Thanks.

You don't have to try and cut a good light if youre just playing around - meaning ignore the light and launch a few seconds after the green.

Will this affect my ET?

nope, you can sit there as long as you want and it will only effect reaction time which does NOT effect et or mph.

You will sometimes see boosted guys sitting there well after as they get there car into boost

Thank you, I’ll have to try that. I’m going back Wednesday.

New timeslip

Went back today and ran a 12.9 at 113 mph with a 2.1 60ft...

Why is my mph so far off from my ET? I see everyone in the low 12s and high 11s trapping 113mph.

It is because of the poor 60'

A 1.7x 60' would get ya to around 12.2.
Generally for every tenth you knock off your 60' you will knock two tenths off your e.t

Yea it was a good 63 degrees. Not much traction all. I tried launching at 2 then 3k rpms and spun 1st and 2nd gear both times. This timeslip was a launch from idle with a little bogging.

2 tenths? Ive been seeing a tenth for a tenth 60ft to ET.

98CayenneT/A 10-11-2018 03:16 AM

It's one tenth in the 60' is two tenths in et. Here are two slips from years ago. Same day.
slip 1:......... slip 2:
60' 2.19...... 60' 1.75
E.t 13.14...... E.t 12.39

60' 2.19 - 1.75 = .44 drop in 60'
times that by 2 for what I should gain in E.t
.44 x 2 = .88

E.t 13.14 - 12.39 = .75 gain by dropping my 60' .44

It’s a lot harder to cut a good 60ft with a manual. Get a two step an try again. Easier way to control rpms taking off.

i considered a 2 step but I have catts and I don’t want to kill them.

Like i I mentioned earlier. Even a 2k rpms launch was spinning and by spinning I mean full on side ways no traction at all spin.

Ill try try again when it’s warmer. I’ve heard Toyo r888s don’t work well in the cold but this was worse than a regular commuting street tire.

fst100 10-11-2018 11:14 AM

drop tire pressure down more in the rears to like 20-23psi instead of 35.
