Default what will it take to run 12's

I have run into a wall trying to hit the 12's. So far I've ran 13.03, 13.04,13.06,and so on. The 60' times are all between 1.83 and 1.87 with the mph between 105.1 and 106.35. I thought for sure this kind of mph and traction would be good enough for at least a 12.99. My GN was running 12.80s at 104-105 and it never pulled a 60' better than 1.92. There is also no consistency, it's almost impossible to go any rounds bracket racing. Thanks for any ideas or tips you may have.

What tires were you running? Stock exhaust? What was the temp out? Where is battery located since weight transfer helps a lot. You are so close.
Any other specs on your car? Year? Engine? mods? What stall?

i ran a 13.31 @ 103 at englishtown. my cars temp was 210 degrees, and my tranny was just about shot. bad synchros and no 4th gear. 60' time was 2.1 secs. i gotta work on launches a lil better but i can get it thru the gears good when i race i bark 2nd and 3rd all the time with 315s. i got a new T56 tranny now but im waiting on my slave cylinder and release bearing since i might as well replace them while trannys out. i got freee mods done now and its getting cooler out so i think i will be in this 12 sec club sooonn. 98 ta M6 free mods , lid and catback.

Is the car stock?? Any mods done?? Drag radials and cold air kit might get you there fairly cheaply, otherwise a cam swap or heads/cam package etc. etc. More info needed to give you better ideas.

Thanks for replying guys, I guess it would help if you knew more about the car.
98 camaro
free mods, lid, t-stat , ory, single 3" exhaust with summit welded muffler

trans was just rebuilt with a shift kit added, a midwest converter with 2.85str , it stalls around 3-3200.

subframe connectors(bolted in for now), shock tower brace, I boxed the stock control arms and added poly bushings, air bag on the right side with 12-13 psi.

I'm running bfg drag ta's with 24 psi.

The weather was semi decent, in the high 70's- low 80's , a little humid though, by the time it cooled some the track went away.

It seems like it runs it's best times on the first pass of the night and slows down from there. I'm wondering if putting the stock t-stat back in would make a difference. It's like it wants to run better hot. Thanks again everybody.

Sorry, I forgot to mention it also has 3.73 gears. It's not running too bad for an all stock engine this small . A 13 second street car was fast 15-20 years ago but times have changed. And yes I'm old enough to have been racing 20 years ago.

Drop the Drag radials pressure to 18psi and try some runs. I ran 107 mph when car had a lid and catback running a 13.54. Added 3:42 gears and ran 13.2-3's all day long @ 105. Added a crap 2600 stall and ran a couple 13.1's, then added LT headers and ran a bunch of 13.0's @ 105. So decided the stall needed replaced and put in a 3400. Ran a 12.8 first run out at the track and the following week a 12.696@ 105. I run my Nittos at 18psi and track prep is needed to really hook up, even the little squeal off the line takes from 3 to 4 tenths off my 1/4 mile times. When it does hook instantly I can feel it. The difference in feeling between 1.85 60's and 1.70 60's is really noticable and plants me back in the seat pretty good.

LS6 intake, underdrive pulley, cam swap(LS1/LS6 hotcam) would definately get you the added HP and TQ and still be somewhat lite on the budget/wallet.
I'm sure you'll get in the 12's then but still possible with the mods already done...on a good day for you and the car. Best of luck in achieving your goal.

Thanks for the help everybody. I'm going to try to hit the track this friday. The temps are going to be in the 50's and it's Milans heads up night , so they'll have the track prepped right. I'll drop the tire pressure like Rotwiler suggested, maybe that will do it. The parts that SS1875 mentioned are all on my wish list. I was also thinking about a set of 1.8 rocker arms instead of a cam swap, has any body tried them? I'll let you know if I hit the 12's (if not maybe I'll just post some pics of a burning camaro)
