Default Just short on the 12's

Ive been to the track only once so far this year. I've only owned the car since February of this year. but i ran a 13.0 my signature has all the mods on the car. With these mods can i hit twelves and how can i get a better 60' time with the setup thats on the car now i was just lookin at my time slip in my signature and the mach 1 i ran ran a better 60' but i blew him away on everything else? the tires i have are crappy i know for the track but i work with what i got. they are fuzion ZL1's. Hope this wasn't a waste of a thread. i'm just lookin to joins the 12's soon

Throw a SLP or similar catback on there and some good tires and you have your 12 second timeslip.

the flow master came on the car and i don't want to spend alot of money yet so the exhaust will have to stay unless i un bolt it at the muffler and run straight pipes? maybe a waste of my time. my main question is can i get a better 60' time with these street tires cuz the mustang did but i caught him every where else

Maybe its me, but if you ran a 13.3 with more mods than him.......and he ran a 13.0 with less mods than you.....where is the flowmaster holding him back in this comparison? Ron

Your trap speed should be enough for you to get into 12s but you have to work on the launch. The 2.1xx 60' time isn't going to cut it. You'll need to be in 2.0xx range or better.

Practice, practice, and practice some more, it can be done. Hell, I have IRS and is able to cut 1.8xx short time.

How can the flowmasters be holding him back? I dont see how there can be a HUGE difference with another catback system, enough to make his et drop

Get a manual cut-out welded in the i pipe and see if the flowmaster is holding you back. I picked up .15 and a little over 1 mph after i put one in, i do have the stock exhaust system though. Just a suggestion, by the way great runs your car sounds strong.

There is a reason why the flowmasters are fondly called "chockmasters". They don't flow as well as other exhaust system.

There is a guy on here who lost 30 or so RWHP with his Flowmaster, but he was putting down some pretty good numbers, 5XX RWHP.

I have the solution to your problems, a nice set of drag radials............ I prefer mickey thompsons but any brand will work better than street tires

Those tires must suck really bad.

I cut 2.0's in my SRT-4 with skinny 205's wheel hop and all. And we all know rwd > fwd.

Get a better launch and see a 12.

yea these tires do suck i could tell the first 60' they would spin and as soon as you hit that patch it pulled and i had to shift after 60' the track was stocky as hell so if i don't want to buy anouther exhaust then in the future when i buy headers should i just put cut outs on it. i know i'll be in the 12's when i get the full exhaust done its just gana take some saving the jobs not puting out what it used to right now were slow and i go home early every day not good on the pay check

with all due respect, if he's doing a 13.0 on a flowmaster muffler, do you honestly believe that he won't run better numbers with a better exhaust? loudmouth, magnaflow, etc.?

Based on what I have read on here about flowmasters, yes, I think his times might improve with a different exhaust. I was questioning your comparison, which might have been a typo? Can anyone direct me to a thread that proves what everyone is saying about flowmasters? I know a lot of people dont like them, but I have never seen dyno results comparing different mufflers on the same car. Just curious. Ron

I still say the flow master sounds better i don't want a raspy sounding street car i understand when i get the headers and y-pipe it will not sound the way i want it too any more but it will make me happy down the quarter mile. i guess i'll have to practice on my launch but i don't even know where to start i don't even remember looking at the tach when i launched. i think i'll try and heat the tires less because there just street radials. Last time i ran i did a burn out for a few seconds and then pulled up. i ran good then but the last run i think i over heated them and it spun more so i'll try a combination of things and hopefully i'll become part of the 12's club i'll be happy for now with 12's then i'll be happy when i hit 11's and so on and so on
