Default is my car a factory freak?

ok guys, just bought 02 ls1 a4 3.23 hardtop stripper z,all it has is magnaflow cat back lid and k@n untuned 18,000 mile full weight with jack and spare and a little over half tank, weight was 3390 +200 for me,ran it tuesday at route66 3 runs dead hooking on stock tires, and k@n installed.

60' 2.010
330' 5.546
1/8 8.427
mph 85.67
1000' 10.916
1/4 13.024
mph 107.61

next run ran 13.025 while a beat a gn with a honkin turbo by 4/10ths felt good.
she is super consistant!i know if filter was removed i would have been 12's first time out but there is next week.i will be removin jack, spare,k@n,back seat, floor mats, and messing with my shift points and pressure with the power programer and install slp cold air kit with extension from fast toys performance. if i install 04 magnesium z06 rims and shave 50 lbs plus the rotating mass (which is like 14 lbs per wheel)and calibrate my tire size to the progammer will i go slower e.t vs runing stock 16 in rims?is my car a freak?

Not to sure if its a freak but thats pretty damn fast for a "stock" car. Put it on a dyno, then u will be able to tell what she is all about.

Good times but I wouldn't call it a freak, I was running 13.0s@107 with a lid, magnaflow muffler and cutout in decent weather with a heavily loaded Z28 (only option I don't have is a CD changer). Get a tune, have a TM removed and you should be good for 12.8-12.9, I got down to 12.88@108 with my tune.

Wouldnt say a freak, but a good runner for sure. A few of my friends have gone 12.90's in their stock LS1's, as well as many people on here.

I think to be a freak youd have to go a 12.7-8 or so....

Good times. Don't waste your time on the 17" rims. They will make you slower. The sidewall on the 16" rim actually has more flex to it which helps with traction. Even though the Magnesium rims weigh less, the weight of the rim is farther from the center giving up some power.

Stick guys driving is everything. I have seen a lot of stock f-bodies in the 12's.

1slowls1, Keith (badpewterZ) is running 11.3's with your mods in an M6.

My 2000 went 8.506 @ 87 w/ a ls6 intake and a cutout.. so you are doin well. I didn't have the 60 you had due to poor excuse for aftermarket tires (like 2 fulda's, and 2 continental or some crap). lol. Car weight was similar.

I'd say it's not a factory freak, but it's definately a strong runner. All it needs is a set of drag radials and a 3600+ stall to really throw down.

Good Luck,
Josh

Im not running any sticky tires though im on regular street tires, and im still learning how to drive the car etc... im only use to driving my car with 280hp.
Plus I have no subframes or any suspension upgrades, and im afraid to blow my rear end. So until then ill be running 13's. But atleast I know my mods have the potential. Besides hes making alot more power and torque than I am somehow. And that was before he did the 90/90 swap hes prob making close to 450hp now.

Default new times!

ok guys just got back from route66 and i did what i said i was going to do,exept i was too lazy to remove the jack and seat, but this time, ran a quarter tank, and raised tire pressure up front to 40 and 30 in the rear,i got two passes dead hooking stabing the gas off idle, before a car hit the wall and exploded then we had to go.

r/t .245
60' 1.965
330' 5.449
1/8 8.296
mph 86.23
1000' 10.758
1/4 12.836
mph 108.89

next run was 12.838 at 108.62 super consisant once again,i sould bracket race this thing.now is my car a freak or what because the 2000 z28 i raced did 13.40's at 105 with his jack removed ,exaust,k@n removed 2.73 and programer.had him by 6 cars.so i am in the 12 sec club(new title please)!do you guys think i could go 12.20 on a brake?i dont want to mess with my converter and loose gas milage and mph.tell me what you guys think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you should sell your slow ls1 and buy a mustang!! 351 s-trim car preferably!

LOL!! J/k.......bad *** ride with very impressive numbers. I think that car on a few pounds of boost would be sick! Something to think about.

Congrats on your 12 sec. passes, your car is definitley a strong runner. I have gone 12.90s with a lid filter and cutout on a cool night at atco which is a fast track. Normally 13.00s and low teens in this summer heat. One thing I have found out is that our 3.23 gears are a big advantage over guys that have 2.73s stock as I have run cars as such going 13.40s and 50s. Anything in the 1.9s 60 fts. really helps hitting hitting high 12s. I would call your car a bit of a freak yes. Wait til the winter in 35-40 degrees you'll be seeing 12.70s if you can hook on a cold track.
