trying for 12's with an a4 ta

i'm goin to the track sometime in early march, and i have a 98 a4 with 2.73's, cut-out, lid, filter, tranny cooler, and a 3400 stall (2.1 str) on yokohama street tires. i kno every car varies but do you think i'd be able to reach 12's with this set up?

thanks

since you have the stall yes.... if you can manage to get traction..

Not without some Drag Radials. The best I could manage was a 13 flat on street tires.Mods are pretty similar.Good luck!

My friend cut a 12.96 on street tires. He's got TSP True duel exhaust with bullit mufflers, Hypertech powerprogrammer, SLP Bilstein shocks and whisper Air lid. Well the tires are Nitto 555's. But it was still a great time with out a stall.

loose the 2.73s your very likely to break somthin with that hi of a gear.if you hook up.

Actually if he hooks he's less likely to break his rear end at all. If 3.73 or 4.10's are used the life of a 10 bolt rear is reduced two thirds with tires that hook. I ran in mid 11's with 2.73 and an A4 cutting 1.5 60ft's. IF the transmission is stock the transmission will break before the rear. Due to the high gearing of 2.73's with sticky tires, it puts all the stress on the transmission instead of the rear.

yeah the 3.73's and 4.10's will launch harder from a dig. I kno someone who switched 3.23's for 3.73's though and they got the exact same e.t. and trap speed as before. I've never done a gear swap personally so I don't really know, but it seems new gears don't help as much as they're cracked up to. right now i'm trying to decide between BFG dr's or Eagle f1's just to ensure my car's ability to run 12's. thanks for the input. ;)

I run a very similar setup that you have, but no cutout. I have a 98 TA, A4, 2.73, lid, Vigilante 3200, LCA's and panhard bar with BFG DR's. My best is 13.23 at 102.5 mph with a 1.80 60'. I dont make the horsepower most guys do as my mph clearly shows that. Good luck with your attempts to crack the 12.s.
