Im in...
Friday night I broke into the 12s on my first run in my 99 C5
The car is very stock has 115k miles and its original clutch is wore out.,
12.91 @ 113
Negatives
- First time drag racer..EVER(noob)
- Spun off the line,
- Running cheap street tires
Mods
- Ported throttle body(free diy)
- Catback exhaust
- kn airfilter
This was a cold november night in georgia. The last test and tune of the year. I plan on reappearing next year with some sticky tires and atleast a good fresh clutch and longtubes.
My friends that are more experienced said the trap time is evident of my botched launch and I should be able to do better once improvements are made in my skill and my tires.
Needless to say I was still impressed my recently aquired car did well, and there will be many more mods to come..

Is this the C5?
Ok never mind saw your post in change title. I don't know how much you know about the C5. Hit me up if you have any questions.
If you are going to run drag radials, you are going to want to put at least one hardened out put shaft in the diff. The short, one piece side. If not you may be getting it towed home!
Also I will recomend the Spec 3+ clutch. Rated at 850 ft/lb. Not a lot of chatter like the 6 puck disks!
Also.....these cars love Nitrous

I am going to tell you from expirience, if you get the hardened output shaft, which the left side is the one always advertised everywhere, you mightas well get the right one done and the gears swapped at the same time. I changed my gears to 4.10's and the left output shaft, then drove 150miles to a track. During my second, excuse me, as I started my second burnout for my second race, I broke the right output shaft. Had to tow my car all the way back, pay exactly the same amount for the job that was done for me previously all over again. So, if you are going to get drag tires, i recommend you do, change the gears and output shafts at the same time. They dont charge more to do it cuz the shafts still have to come off when doing the gears. Just trying to save you money and gray hair!
