Default 12's on minimal mods

Finally hit 12's last weekend at MIR! Ended up with a 12.91 @ 108mph with a 1.93 60'. Mods are SLP Flowpac, Yank 3600 stall, 3.73's and Predator tune. I was on street tires, at 24 lbs of air, with full weight and (like a dummy) 3/4's tank of gas

My best 60' was 1.91, but I ended up running a 12.92 @ 107mph.

Not bad for minimal mods! I have a ported throttle body and coolant bypass coming and sometime this summer I plan on getting headers and a y-pipe. Hopefully this will get me into the mid to low 12's.

Get tires, you have a couple more tenths left on the table with the converter.

At least that with the gears. If you can cut a 1.6-1.7 you already have a 12.3x-12.5x car. Plus the mods on the way maybe 12.2x? Then the exhaust might put you 11.9x if the planets align

I am running Sumitomo HTR's, 275/40/17s. They are pretty soft, 160 treadwear.

I thought about getting drag radials, but I don't feel like having to replace the rear eventually. I want it to be a mostly a quick street car.

Very true, I went 12.30 with a 1.61 60'.

Long as your rear is doing alright now, drag radials shouldnt be break it. Maybe get some lower control arms to help prevent wheel hop.

My 02 SS a4 w/SLP LT,SLP Blackhawk lid,Hypertech tune, factory cat back ran 12.61@111 on MT et streets. W/ a yank 3600 stall & 3:73 my car would probally run 11.90's.That converter & 3:73's does alot by them selves.

Thanks! I thought so too! I didn't even really heat them up that much because I don't feel like having to replace them this soon.

Nice run... I think there is a lot left in that set-up though. Big stall and gears should get you in the mid twelves alone

i managed 1.7 60fts on minimal mods and street tires. Is your car hooking good? I would figure a stalled 02 should be at mid or low 12s, must be the tires, cuz i'd say you got atleast 2 tenths to go just in the 60ft the way your car sits now.
