Think I will get 12's??

Just wondering if you guys think I would/should be able to break into the high 12's. The car is an 01 T/A WS6 M6. Best time ran so far is a 13.4 @ 108 with these mods on street tires:

SLP Loudmouth I Exhaust
SLP Lid
Smooth Air Bellow

I however have bought some parts for it, and piece by piece are being put on. They are:

Pacesetter LT's
Pacesetter ORY
WS6Store Short-Throw shifter

The short-throw is on, im just waiting on the headers/ory. I will be making these passes on street tires which are Toyo Proxes stock size 275-40-17. I usually just slip the clutch off the line and nail it from there on. I can't seem to get better then a 2.0-2.1 60' time. My best run yet was 13.4 @ 108.

So with a decent run, do you think 12's are possible with those bolt-ons?

Anyone?

DVS99TRANS Jul 9, 2008 01:27 PM

Yes and have seen it done on street tires with a Lid, 85 MAF, and LM1 on a 2000 Z28 M6. He ran 12.98 @ 109. It is possible but need to have a clean run, no spinning, and don't break traction on the 2-3 shift.

You will should be able to. My friend John ran a 13.1 in his 02 WS6 with hurst shifter/SLP Lound Mouth and Lid.

I really hope I pull 12's. Thanks for the responses!

I think you're gonna need to cut a 1.9x to do it, good luck

troopercar Jul 9, 2008 06:03 PM

The car can do it on a good day but with an M6 it's all about the driver.

01 Trans-Am WS6 Jul 10, 2008 12:24 AM

Yeah...my tires aren't in "new" condition, but they arent too bad. A 1.9 60' is gonna be tough on those tires though, I can slip the clutch a little lower, but I would probably bog too much.

I ran a 12.9@110 on 245 street tires with a 2.11 60' back when all I had was LT/lid/flowmaster. (M6). So yes, with a little luck and practice it can be done. I didn't make that pass on my first trip to the track either. Practice makes alot of difference. Good luck.

Did you get the car tuned? If so I think you can run 12.7x-12.8x with that 2.0 60'. Let us know what you run ....I want to see if I'm right. I love pass time.

01 Trans-Am WS6 Jul 10, 2008 10:23 PM

The car will probably get tuned after the install, but not right away...also the stuff isn't on yet, but will be in a few weeks and I will deff. let you guys know how I did.

The older the tires are the better

And why is that  They aren't DR's or anything, just street tires going bald

They get flatter and softer, you get a better contact patch. It's not gonna be like a Drag Radial, but it'll be better.

Also, (sorry if you have done this already) try some minor weight reduction.
Take out back seat, take out spare tire etc...

Back seat wieghs almost nothing, just pull the spare and the jack and don't fill the gas tank.

Blue_00_WS6 Jul 18, 2008 09:37 PM

i think you could get into the 12's no prob. i ran a 12.72 on street tires in my TA before i got the head/cam put on.

CAMARO'N'BIRD Jul 21, 2008 10:20 AM

Get the tires super hot, and launch her at about 4000. You should be able to push that edge. Bring her to Cleveland OH this weekend for Superchevyshow at Summit Motor sports track. You will walk out of you shoes the track is so sticky. Good luck.

60 ft time will tell all. Good 60 ft will equal high 12...over 1.85 60ft and will probably go 13.1-2
