Guys,
That wasn't a GSXR-1000 he raced that was a Yamaha YZF-600R which is a bit of a dog.
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products...a_yzf600r.aspx

Granted it pulls mid 11s, but the new crop of 600 CCs bike are a good 0.5 to 1 second quicker in the Qtr than that thing. The 1000s are significantly faster than even that. Not saying a car that traps 140mph inthe Qtr can't beat a 1000 CC bike from a roll, but the bike he raced was a mid 90s 600cc bike.

Considering he had a passenger in the car totalling about 3700 more lbs to haul down the street, it's still impressive

That video is old as ****!

I love how the passenger said "GSXR 1000!" when it clearly says "Yamaha" on the side of the bike...

Could've mixed the bike he raced with the bike not racing.... even though he did focus in on the Yamaha

That bike was not a 600. It was a YZF1000 aka "Thunder Ace". Yamahas' open class sportbike prior to the R1.

It's a moot point really. That was when he was running his old setup. The car as it is now would smack down any production bike. Hyabusa, GSXR1000, R1, whatever...

None of them run 8's without substantial modifications. None of them trap over 150 either. Most of the Hyabusas I see with bolt-ons (header, extended swingarm etc...) are running mid/low 9's around 145'ish.

Mid 9's ain't gonna get the job done. I have owned 3 open class sportbikes (and 2 750s) and I have seen many, many run at the track. Anyone that thinks there is a production bike that will outrun this car is in serious denial.

Blast from the past guys

I didn't run the Gixxer, the other bike ran. It was a 97 Thunderace, old liter bike from the year before the R1 came out. Not the fastest thing on the road at the time, but no slouch.

I said Gixxer and Thunderace, cause that's what they were. Not saying I ran the Gixxer.

Anyone know any Busa's or ZX12's that wanna play??

Be careful what you ask for. I saw a turbo 'busa at Milan not too long ago. It's a missile with wheels.

So Harlan how is ur car on the expressway now ? Looks like that the car is track only now . I guess thats the answer to compete with the best. Wish you keep ur 6 speed. Would of been nice to have another M6 in the mix of top fast cars. Again congrats on those times .

Hey Harlan, I've already shown your video to some of my biker buds for a laugh since they give me hell about my 600cc crotch rocket and "slow" TA

Yea I think you're right and I was off saying it was a YZF-600R

Rather it did look more like the Thunderace like you said

Than the YZF-600R "Thundercat"

Default Motorcycles are fast but....

Its like at the drag races, as fast as the prostock motorcycles are, the pro stock cars are still faster. I often watch them both and am amazed how fast the bikes are and how the cars would still beat them. Just my $.02

Look no further I have just the street driven Hayabusa your looking for and $1,000.00 or so to back it up. Either highway or 1/4 mile it's your choice.

I'm in Grand Rapids, MI.

Take Care,
Jim
