Synthetic Gear Oil in my 10 bolt
It depends on the diff type. With an Auburn never use synthetic, Eaton I don't know but it's a clutch type so my personal preference is non synthetic.
If it's all gears like a TruTrac or Torsen it doesn't matter but I used non synthetic in my Torsen/3.73 Motive.

The Auburn is a metal to metal cone clutch type diff. Synthetic oil just reduces it's holding power. They do wear out quicker than other types in my opinion so by running synthetic for a year you probably just extended the life of it a bit, thats a guess.
But they don't recommend synthetic, for max holding it needs non synthetic and ONLY GM or ford friction modifier.

Well according to JRP Up above he states that the 2000 M6 have torsen. So I guess thats what I have. So what is that sound I am hearing from 40mph to stopping. Just a slight whinning.
