Fair price for machine work & labor to build a stroker motor?
Chris, I know you were not referring to me, just wanted to make a point

I definately think you'd get a lot of business assembling shortblocks for a reasonable price, especially after you did a few and people saw you were doing quality work. I too have gotten irritated at the price gouging that seems to go on in the LS1 aftermarket community, some of the quoted prices I've seen are ridiculous from H/C packages to assembled shortblocks.

Spohn had the Eagle crank for $820 and I was adding in what it cost to buy piston, rods, bolts & rings seperate. Balancing might be a little high.
I called Speed Demon they had them sell them for around $2000

So true!
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
i thinking instead of just buying an ls1 and puting it into my car that i will build a stroker in a iron block 6.0L
get 4.125 crank and all the other stuff
i might be better off
My version is : "You may not always get what you pay for but you rarely get what you don't pay for."
Choose your builder carefully.
BTW Machine work for my block was
80.00 to hone it, 25.00 to clean it, and 30.00 to install cam bearings
I clearenced it for my rods here at the house.I bought my stoker kit used on here for 2100.00
