Default 4L60E from 4wd for 2wd corvette

So, I plan to put an LS1 from a tahoe into a 78 vette. Is it possible to use the stock 4L60E transmission ? What would I need to adapt the transmission to go straight to the drive shaft instead of the transfer case?
Otherwise...does anyone know if the stock 700R4 Trans will bolt direct to the 5.3l LS1?
Any help would be great!

Thumbs down Another

There's a forum for this type info... Certainly NOT an "advanced engineering" issue.

Sorry for not understanding the structure of the forum...Based on the available options (welcome, featured vehicles, performance, etc), I could not determine the correct forum to post it to, so it seemed the engineering section would be the most appropriate.
If you could direct me to the correct forum or sub section that would be helpful.
I apologize for the inconvenience of the readers, just looking for some helpful recommendations from the collective wisdom of the group.

Take the transfer case off. Get a standard 4L60 rear mainshaft and tail cover.
