That number will change depending on the head gasket type you end up using. If I recall, steel gaskets recommed not more than 0.006" variance. I would think that value accounts for both mating surfaces (head and block). Just out of interest, I measured my block to <0.002" and heads were 0.002" -0.003". |

I was thinking of trying plate glass. I bought a steel ruler, but it is insufficient(its not precision). |
