Default Ram air brainstorm.

I'm looking into the two primary styles of ram air for the f-body cars, the "ftra" and the "sux2bu". Both have advantages and disadvantages. My goals are to make something that inhales through the grille but does involve me cutting my reinforcement bar. Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about this?

I know what you mean. Good luck finding a way that doesn't remove/cut the impact bar.

No offence but why not just get the FTRA and stop worrying about "ram air" and move on to bigger and better mods? Even a properly designed ram air setup isn't going to give you the gains you would get from a cam and headers.

because I don't feel like killing $200 for something I could make myself and be happy with. Sure theres better things I could do, but I don't feel like doing them because my car is a daily driver and I like how it behaves now.

i gained 25 rwhp in my cam only with just $60 in materials...lets see a cam and headers give that kind of $ to hp ratio...

here is what i did if this helps you any...

Just how did you verify that you picked up 25rwhp with "ram air"? If you picked up a couple MPH at the track then I would agree that you gained some HP when the car is at higher speeds. I do believe ram air works to an extent "nothing that you can feel" but I think the effort spent trying to improve over some of the systems already on the market "FTRA" would be better spent doing other mods. But hey, if you guys enjoy trying to improve on the current ram air systems then go for it. I sure wouldn't stress over trying to make the most efficient ram air system possible though.

click on the link and read i did back to back tests to prove it was worth alot more than people think...

also i used to have a ftra on the car and then put this intake on and keopt everything else the same and had the same track conditions DA, prep etc...also there was another car there that ran the same weekend before with no other mods done...so comparing my new times and looking at his...my ram air gave a 12rwhp gain over a FTRA
