Default Poll: Draglites or Pro Stars on a SS. PSJ what made you switch?

Ok, I've narrowed it down to Draglites and Pro Stars. I don't want my rim sticking out, so Centerline is out of the question.

PSJ, what made you switch to Pro Stars and are you happy you did?

Should I go with 9"rim/10.5 or 10"rim/11.5 ET streets with my planned mods. Full bolt-on + S2 H/C by spring '03. Hopefully 422cid by spring '04, but thats a longshot. Most likely will keep the ST3500.

Fixed typo in title--PSJ

Ordering today. Appreciate your comments.
Thanks.

Rick

Draglites are ugly. I personally love the Convo-pros...but Pro stars are MUCH better than draglites.

Will definately be functional. I want 1.6* 60's and wheels up.

Plan on S2 H/C by next spring. Maybe 422 in cpl yrs.

Since I'm paying my hard earned $$, might as well get what looks best.

I was asking why all these guys recommend prostars. From what I have been told draglites are the lighter of the two rims. Looks do not matter to me, so when I get my slicks they will wrapped around some draglites. I just wanted to know did the prostars actually offer a performance advantage?

The centerlines are the best quality rim. The problem with welds is the soft aluminum around the mounting hole spreads and smears, which in turn makes rim changes a bitch. I never had this problem with my convos, and my welds dissapoint me everytime I bolt up the slicks.

I do like the look of the welds more though. If you narrowed your rear end convo pros would be my choice.

Also, I used to run 5/16 spacers all the way around, but a little more grinding ot the front calipers and the look is much cleaner. I suggest that you do the extra grinding to the front and only run a spacer on the rear welds.

This pic has a spacer all the way around

Yeah but what does it cost to have your rear narrowed a bit? Might as well just grind my calipers.

Your talking about the aluminum that goes inbetween the 2 rim pieces? It smears and makes the bolt holes smaller? I can take care of that no prob. I can get a bit that will clean it up in a flash.

I like the look of the warriors. But really hate the idea of them sticking out. I can't believe they don't make bigger backspacing.

Thanks for the replies. Came REAL close to getting 15x3.5 15x8 ProStars/26x10.5 ET's today. Got a qoute from Jeg's and got real busy at work so figured I'd wait it out till Monday.

John, were those taken at World of Wheels? I had a sales meeting the Tuesday before up in Mundelien and was I couldn't move it up a week to go to World of Wheels. My bro-in-law went the ***.

I formerly had the 16x9 XP Draglites in back.

I changed frankly because my car looked like Brooke's Firehawk.

I only bring up the narrowed rear end thing in case you were planning to purchase a 12 bolt any time soon. Joe Kizzare purchased his narrowed and runs a 28" tire/convo-pro that is tucks nicely inside the wheel well.

Check it out here:

I couldn't find a pic of the Bogart Dragon3's or whatever they are. Could you hook me up with a link?

Do they need grinding?

Not in the market for a 12-bolt untill I fry the stock rear. Hopefully thats a couple years from now or more.

Thanks.

Rick
