Detail Story from a 1st time PC user
I got this story from one of our customers today. He had called me several times during the course of the day while he was working on it.
"To start off, I just bought a 1999 Ford SVT Lightning. It had 53,000 miles on it when I got it and has a little over 55,000 miles, now. When I got it, the paint was horrible. No protection or anything. So this Thanksgiving my friend said he would help me detail the truck since I had no clue how to do it. He told me where to buy everything and what to buy. So I went to Tropi-Care’s website and bought a slew of products from them.
Here is what I purchased:
- Tropi-Care Premium Car Wash (http://www.tropi-care.com/Tropi_Care...ash_p/tc-6.htm)
- Clay Magic Kit (http://www.tropi-care.com/Clay_Magic_kit_p/tc-1.htm)
- Tropi-Care Swirl Cutter (http://www.tropi-care.com/Swirl_Cutter_p/tc-8.htm)
Note: I did not use this since the grit was a bit finer than the other polish I used. If you have lighter swirls, I’d suggest this. I used a heavier polishing compound and it got almost all of my swirls out.
- Menzerna PowerGloss Compound (http://www.tropi-care.com/Menzerna_P...s_p/men-pg.htm)
Note: This is the polishing compound that I used and it worked great. I’d highly recommend it for deeper swirls.
- Tropi-Care Sealant xP (http://www.tropi-care.com/Tropi_Care..._xP_p/tc-3.htm)
- Tropi-Care Carnauba Paste Wax (http://www.tropi-care.com/Tropi_Care..._p/tc-pwax.htm)
- Tropi-Care Premium Detail Spray (http://www.tropi-care.com/Tropi_Care...ray_p/tc-5.htm)
- Porter Cable 7424 Complete Buffing Kit (http://www.tropi-care.com/Porter_Cab..._p/tcpc-10.htm)
All in all, I spent right around $325 bucks for all of this. To put that in different terms, I was quoted $350 dollars by a local detailing shop to do what I did with all of this.
Now, my friend and I have never used a Porter Cable before. Ever. So we open up the box and look at the instructions, which tell us nothing. So we call up Steve at Tropi-Care and ask him what his opinion is on how to use the Porter Cable with the Mezerna PowerGloss Compound. He told us to use the Orange Pad and start off on speed 3 to work the gloss into the truck and then speed up to speed 5 and go slow to cut out the swirls. Worked AMAZING but it went by so sloooowww. After that, we took the Tropi-Care Sealant xP and went quick with that on about speed 3-3.5. We would do one panel at a time, let it haze (about 30 seconds to 1 minute) and then wipe it down with a microfiber towel. After that, we went on to the Tropi-Care Carnauba Wax. We didn’t know what speed to use or how to get the wax out of the container so we called up Steve again. He told us to just get the wax out with a plastic bag so that’s what we did. It was a little tough because the wax was a little hard on the top. Once we broke through the top of the wax it was pretty easy. So we used the same speed (3-3.5) and went quick. We would wipe off the wax right after we were done with each panel or section. We then went over the entire truck with Tropi-Care Premium Detail Spray. After we finished that we looked the truck over and there is only one word to describe how it looks. WOW!!
Here are a few pictures of the truck that we shot here tonight. I think the truck turned out absolutely fantastic and the truck turned out even better. Especially for my first time EVER using a Porter Cable.
Cliff notes: Tropi-Care has EASILY earned my business in the future. Steve was very easy to get in touch with and actually called me before my order went out to make sure the Porter Cable kit was what I wanted (sub out certain pads for other pads if I wanted). He was incredibly helpful and incredibly nice and willing to deal with my questions. His customer service is by far some of the best that I have ever had the pleasure to do business with. And if that isn’t enough, his products speak for themselves.
I shot these pics with just a regular Canon PowerShot S3 15. Nothing special just on the "Auto" setting. With a better camera they would come out much better but I think they came out well for the camera that I used (and setting)."

The PC is very user friendly and will not burn the paint. Just take your time, go slow and learn what the PC can do for you. Those pictures prove whether your a first time or long time user, you get great results with the right tools and products.

very nice! red imo is the hardest color, besides white, to make shine and give that depth to. These pictures obviously show that those products kicked that cars *** and made it bling bling!!! great job!
