Weld Draglite XP`s....Anyone have them?
I`m looking at the ad for the Weld XP line of wheels and this is the first time I`ve heard of them. I see they offer them in 15,16,17 & 18" diameters. Is anyone running these? Are they just a taller version of original Draglites/stars? I understanding that you have to grind on your calipers to fit the 15" Draglites on 4th gen. f-bodies, so I assume if you went with a 16" or larger XP wheel you wouldn`t have to grind right? The ad shows a XP Prostar on the front of a `98 or newer Camaro. Looks damn good I think. Obviously the benefits of a drag wheel is weight, or lack there of, are these XP`s a light wheel or just have the look one? Damn it I want some wheels!!!

I think Mildot has some.
To my knowledge the 16" weld draglite XP needs no grinding. The XP's, I have been told, are indeed heavier than the regular draglites.
If you plan on running a drag slick ...you might check on availability of a suitable slick for a 16" wheel as well.

I used to have:
16x8 XP 5.5 backspace with Nitto DR's
16x9 XP 6.5 backspace with 26x11.5x16 ET Streets.
No grinding or modifications needed.
Here is a pic of the 16x9 combo on my car in 2000. I cut a 1.57 in this pic. Honestly with the right suspension my buddy HackerJoe cut 1.45's on the 16" ET Streets but I think that low 1.5's are doable.
You will need the XP specific lugs and keep in mind they weight about 22-23, which is what stock 16x8 rims weigh. I sold mine so I could go with 28's.
