Light-up shifter on the way, how to wire it?¿?

I ordered the light-up ivory skull from www.flameball.com (actually it's a present from my gf, she's really cool) and I'm not sure how to wire the thing. I only want it to light up when my parking/headlights are on. I'm guessing that the easiest/nearest location would be the lights in the traction control switch. Any tips would be much appreciated...don't be afraid to get VERY detailed as electronics is my current weak point!

I'm getting the samething in a couple of weeks and I was thinking of wiring it to the little light in the ash tray so that when the lights go on it will go on. The only thing I'm worried about is hiding the wire. Any idea's??

Hiding the wire shouldn't be the problem. If my guess is right, it should be able to slide right down the top of the pleather boot.

The easiest and closest spot if the ashtray light. I installed mine in about 10 minutes, and used some black tape to hide the wire under the shifter boot. I dont have pics yet, but I love it!!

Am I going to have to strip wire and what not? Or can I just strip the ends and tape it to the leads/contacts on the light?

Hmmm...I'll tell you if you tell me how to wire a light-up shifter!!! Haha, j/k!

Hold down Alt then type 5544 then let go of Alt

Now, with the release of this valuable info, please help me with the shifter.

Sounds like a good idea to tap into the ash tray light wire.
¿Doesn't that sound like a good idea?

I just stripped the wire, from the ashtray light and wired it inline.

Get wire splicers! You can find them at any automotive store. Make sure you get the right size for the wires that are being used. These simply clamp onto the wire you're pulling power from (no stipping involved) and the wire(s) that is going to the shifter. This acts as a bridge to take power from one source and "bridge" over to another. You will probably want the red ones, they're the smallest size.
