Underhood mirrors having heat issues?

For those of you with underhood mirrors, are there any heat issues with using the mirrors?

I'm pretty sure you are supposed to remove those when you are not using them with your hood up at a carshow..

Before I bought mine, few of the guys that daily drove their cars said no problem. I haven't had any problems with the heat, yet, but problems with using the velcro, cause it made the mirrors sit away further than I liked. Mine is a D/D. I have been riding around the city alot with my AeroForce Interceptor Scan Gauge showing 190's.

I was thinking of permantly installing them if I get a set. I usually drive about 700 miles per year.

Plastic or Stainless? I have had both and I wouldnt even think of driving the car with the plastic ones on, but I have had the stainless ones from specializedstainless for about a year or so and have had no issues at all and they are permantly attached.

Now granted I dont drive the car very much, but still I cant see how they would ever be an issue with the stainless ones.

I was looking at getting the stainless ones, not plastic.

You should have no issues at all then. People have been running stainless dress up items for years with no problems.

i made my own acrylic ones. No problems at all for the last 5k miles.

OIF1VET 03-30-2009 04:14 PM

I never had a problem with heat. Until I had my (OFI) Turbo kit installed. I had three of them bend and dis-color. But we are talking crazy heat. Like I said Never had a single problem even during the summer with them.
