Dynamat alternative?

Ok so I am installing new speakers, tweeters, subs, etcetc. I figured since i have to take out my carpet to clean and re wire my car, i might as well replace it. I also looked at something to reduce road noise and rattle, but its pretty expensive. I was wondering if i could put some sort of truck bedliner material down, how well would this work and how much would it be? PM me if you need any details. Please and Thank you.
PS- Just ordered new black carpet :D

anyone?

get fat mat. Same thing as dynomat for 1/4 the price. you can get 100 SQ Ft for like 100 dollars

Garr 04-02-2009 12:43 AM

where can i get it? and nice quote btw ;)

I used and really liked Raamat, plus it's not too expensive and doesn't smell like asphalt. Search for it on google ;)

I've been thinking about getting some Fat Mat to put inside my center console. If you've ever had your center console off while driving, you notice how much road and transmission sound it cuts out, and that's just a thin piece of plastic. I think laying down some sound deadening underneath it will reduce it a lot more, without having to pull up the carpet and such.

there was a thread on here about two weeks ago where a guy used rhino liner material to re surface the floor boards and trunk area

The spray-on liner is pretty expensive for what you get. I'd go with Secondskinaudio if you're looking for high-end stuff that's not ridiculously overpriced.

I got eDead stuff from elemental designs... I really like it and it isnt expensive..

Garr 04-02-2009 03:23 PM

how many square feet would i need to do the entire floor and trunk?

DopdBrd 04-02-2009 06:42 PM

I'm looking to do the same. The Drone on the highway is a little painful and I'd like the interior to be more quiet. my next door neighbor did the dynamat thing and it really quieted his down.

That's what I'm planning on using. Good stuff, from what I've heard. :D

Garr 04-02-2009 10:01 PM

Yeah especially with my exhaust it gets loud on the roads. I would also like to reduce the car rattling with loud music.

Ericbigmac83 04-02-2009 10:05 PM

just did edead also. good stuff, helped a lot. and cheap

Garr 04-02-2009 10:21 PM

how much did you buy / use? And what all did you do?

Garr 04-02-2009 10:28 PM

I have seen a couple things about going to Lowe's and getting Peel and Seel... would this last like 5 years or so? and if im on a tight budget is this good?

starfishy 04-03-2009 02:00 AM

Which edead to use? 80? and how much do I need for floor, doors, rear side panels (no roof - convertible)? How much more to do the trunk too?

Ericbigmac83 04-03-2009 06:38 AM

i used 120 sq ft of edead. I bought 80ft of the 80 and 40ft of the 40. used the 80 on the floors and the 40 on the doors.

Garr 04-03-2009 09:41 AM

did you double layer anything?

DopdBrd 04-03-2009 05:51 PM

WOW, I just checked into that eDead stuff that I'm pretty sure I am going that route. That stuff is cheap. My neighbor did dynamat in his car and spend 220 dollars just on the rear half of his car. I'm sure I could eDead the whole car for that much.
