Default Question to you guys with painted lids

I was thinking of having my lid sprayed the same color as the car but I was wondering how you guys deal with the two clips that anchor the front of the lid down? I would imagine it would cut into the paint pretty badly...

If you left it alone I would guess that it would cut into the paint. But why not put a small piece of padding either on the clip or on the lid. Or just be real careful when you open it up.

I put a small piece of masking tape on the backside. Helps a lot, but I can still see an indentation where it clips on.

Just make sure every time you put the clips on, you put them in the same spot. No one's gonna see your lid with the clips down.

Mine is chipped a little were the clips contact the lid. You can't tell unless you get close. Next time I remove the lid I will put something on there like stated above. Wish I would have done it when I first had it painted.

or take some fish tank hose, cut it to 1", or however wide the clips are, slice it down once side and use that.. might be a little thick to fit right though.. I would gladly try it, but i don't have a lid.
