Painted SS 17's SLP take offs - How do I get rid of the bowtie center cap?

Will a hair dryer lift it so I can peel it off?

Why not just call up another company like BBK, they make replica ZR1 rims in silver/chrome and I would expect that the center caps they have for their replicas would be the same size as the OEM caps. I don't think the aftermarket caps have the Chevy emblems, because they would probably get sued if they did have the emblems.

I should have been more specific these are the 10 spoke SS rims used on the 00 to 02 SS. They are not like the ZR1's and ZR1 center caps won't fit.

Just wash them a few times and the emblems will fade out. Mine did.

I dunno about removing the bowtie decals, but would you maybe want to cover them up with another decal?

firebat also makes a silver decal to cover the center and then you SS or Z28 or whatever you want.

if its a sticker the hair dryer will loosten it up enought to peel it off.. then just us wd40, goo gone, or some bug and tar removers that should take care of the sticker gum... im sorry but im not too shure what type of rims these are and what the embem is made out of.... are they plastic and painted, metel and painted, is it just a sticker decale, or is it the thick plastic emblums held on with double sided tape?

its just painted on, when they started fading on my old car I just used some of the 'scratch out' stuff and kept rubbing until it came off. Scratch out is just a real fine rubbing compound, took about a minute per wheel to take off the bowtie..

I wet sanded mine and then gave them a small coat of paint. The caps look great after you do this, and the guy I sold my wheels to didn't even notice.

I am doing this right now! I bought SLP take-off painted Camaro SS 10-spoke 17" wheels and am removing the red bowtie from the center caps because these are for my TransAm. Yes, the red bowtie is painted on. It is not a decal.

First I tried using tar remover, that only worked a little bit. Then I tried using "Goof Off" and that worked for the first center cap - but it also removed some of the silver paint. I tried using "Goof Off" again on the second center cap and it barely removed the red bowtie but was doing a good job at removing the silver paint! Then I used 800 grit sandpaper and that worked. I used the 800 grit sandpaper for the third center cap without any issues - it got off both the red bowtie and the top layer of silver paint. I also used the 800 grit sandpaper to "fix" the first two center caps by completely removing all of the silver paint. Before I touched the fourth center cap I realized that I should be taking pictures of all this, so I took a break for today.

Here is what they look like so far. The one at the top left is untouched. The other three are taped around the edges and sanded in the centers, but not repainted yet - that is why they don't look shiny.

Once I get the red bowties and the silver paint off the center caps I will paint them with new silver paint. It was hard to find the exact color so I chose the closest color I could find. Probably I'll do at least two coats. Then I'll spray clear coat paint on them. Lastly I'll get graphic decals of either the "bird" logo or the "WS6" logo, then spray clear coat paint again.

I'm thinking about getting the decals from either of these people:If anybody has any advice, I'm all ears! Also, I'll try to remember to make a web page with more images of this center cap project afterward.

I milled the center out and made new inserts out of plexiglass with a custom logo. I maybe can post pictures later in the week.

I used alcohol, then got with MarkIXDZ and purchased some black Z28 stickers for the center caps.
Have had them on for a couple years now.

Its different and since I paid for the car I will put on the car what I want. BTW the design is airbrushed on and is NOT a decal. That would be tacky and so far I only have heard good responses about the car

Sorry had stressfull day didn't want to sound so defensive. Yes its Daffy and because I was not born or raised here in the States my english was about as good as Daffy's, thats why the duck on the hood. In the local car clubs that i'm hanging out with they just know me as Daffy, so do several cops. With a car painted this way its just to hard to hide or to say " That was someone else, not me " LOL
As you can see things improved.

Cool

Here is an image of my Trans Am now with new Camaro SS takeoffs without the red Chevy bowtie emblems, with Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP tires, and with McGard #64015 black chrome bulge cone lug nuts.

I put more images and some comments about removing the Chevy emblems from the wheel center caps on a web page:

http://home.comcast.net/~David96SS/WS6/wheels/

I hope this helps!
