What lies behind the stock camaro grill?
I want to pull my stock grill (which we painted gloss black about 7 months ago ) and paint the area therein gloss black. I want to pull any weight I can off of my car, and I also think this MIGHT look cool. But, I dont know what to do about the two extreme ends of the grill. Isnt it white styrofoam back there? Paint will destroy the styrofoam, right? Any suggestions on how to do this sorta appearance mod tastefully?
Also, I plan on doing this at home with some 800 grit sandpaper, masking off the front end, and some gloss black krylon. If it looks bad I will just reinstall my gloss black factory grill
Thanks

The red one above looks sweet with all the holes filled in. Below is a pic of what they look like removed, a tad on the ugly side, IMHO

It's cool that the "CAMARO" is still back there, the holes just need to be filled in.

That's where the Wild Things are!
I think most people find that their car looks good with the grill removed; however, when I removed my grill in preparation to install my SLP grill, I found my bumper looked like crap. The whole area under the edges of the grill was really scratched up where the grill had been moving around. Just be prepared for what MAY be under there.

Re: What lies behind the stock camaro grill?
I had my stock grill clear coated and it made it look glossy black.. My car is pewter and there's nothing black at all in the area of my front end so it just looked funny so I pulled it back off. I prefer the look without the grill even with the holes which I plan to have my body shop fill and repaint. Until then you can hide the holes by buying some vinyl Blackout Tape. Cut them down to size and spray paint them with your Color Match Paint like you get at Pepboys. Preferably the stuff in the can not the Brush on. Next lay out the little pieces and spray them. Let em dry and stick em on. Step one foot back from the car and the holes magically disappear.
It'll look better until you get to the body shop and have them done professionally.
I'd like to know how to get those screens some of you have in the nostrils there.. Do you have to pull the front Facia completely off and how do you make the screens stay? I heard you can buy Gutter guard from Home Depot.
Thanks guys !

Anyways, on your last reply on the gutter guard, that is what i used, and its easy to put back there. When you have the grill off, you will figure it out, you just kind of put it back there and line it up. If anyone has anymore questions they need to ask i would be glad to reply, I painted and own the red one.
