Default Have problems with fuel rail covers.

About a month ago I got my fuel rail covers cut and put them on my car. (Thanks Rob) So the next morning when i got in it to drive it the car made this loud screaking sound. Then my ses light started blinking and I started smelling gas really bad. So I get back in the driveway and my left or right tailpipes had smoke coming out of it. When the ses light was flashing the car would barely go. I don't see them touching anything and I did a test on them and just put the passenger on in and that's the one that seems to be causing the problem. It's not to just fit prefectly. It's pressed up against the oil cap where the hole is for the oil cap and the corvette cover. Anybody have this problem like they weren't getting enough gas or something? Thanks.

I can't see how they would be able to crimp those rigid fuel lines. Does the throttle cable have enough clearance? Did something get knocked loose when you pushed them into place? I'd suggest removing them, check ALL wiring and hoses carefully, then run the car to see if the problem persists. It may not be related to the FRCs at all.

Mark I took them off the car and the problem goes away. I mean as soon as there off the problem is gone. I'll look at them when I get home today because they really do clean up the engine bay.

Default Re: Have problems with fuel rail covers.

My pass cover gets pretty darned close to the underside of the FRC. My best guess here is that there is a loose wiring harness that gets dislodged once the covers are installed. When you did the installation the wiring for the fuel injectors is clipped to the fuel rail. The instructions say to remove those clips, if those aren't undone they might be pushing up on the covers. I would recommend pushing on all of the wiring plugs and try one cover at a time and see if the problem still persists. Weird though.
