Default Bulb to LED List

A lot of people wanted to know about which LEDs to get to convert from bulbs, so I put together a list. Just google any of the name of the bulbs to find where you can get them.

Interior:
Gauge Cluster - 5 of the WLEDx5
They come with resistors built in, so they are completely plug and play. To make them distribute light well, you need to grind down the tip of the LEDs until they are flat.

Rear View Mirror - 2 of 4410x9 Festoon LED Bulbs
Direct replacement for stock bulbs. They are a lot easier than trying to rip the mirror apart to fit boards in there.

Dome/Trunk Light/Rear Seat Lights - Fixed Loop Festoon Bulb
These are a direct replacement for the blubs. I made some custom boards that I could make in small amounts for others who are not good w/ soldering. They are a lot cheaper than the festoons. Ill also post up how to make them.

Colored Door Lights - 2 of 74-x or 74-xHP
Either one will work. I went with the HP because they are brighter and they look great.

Shifter Light - 74-x or 74-xHP or 74-xHP3
Either of the first two will work, but do not provide to much light. I would suggest the third to make sure light is distributed evenly.

Glove Light - WLEDx5
I used the WLEDx5, but any of the WLED series will work. This provides great light though so I dont plan to switch.

HVAC - 3 of 74-xHP3
I havent used these, but fbody96rs vouches for them.

TCS/Monsoon/Odometer - Not Available
These need to be soldered into the area. Most LEDs can just use a 470 Ohm 1/4 watt resistor attached to the individual LED. I will post up about doing this as well when I get a chance to make one.

Headlight Switch - NEO3-x
I havent used these either, but fbody96rs vouches that they fit also.

I Believe that is it for interior. If I missed anything or if there are other options, just post up and let me know. I hope this helps everyone. I will post up the exterior LEDs when I can double check them tomorrow morning.

I believe you need two 3mm LEDs for the odometer and ten for the monsoon head unit as well (need resistors too). Only thing I couldn't find was how to change the color of the display on the monsoon HU. Any thoughts?

*edit* While I'm posting about lights...which ones do I need to replace the side markers? I vht'ed them a little dark and am looking for something brighter. Thanks.

Yes they do. Thank you. I will put those in as well into the ones that need soldered. As for the side markers, I will have to double check tomorrow to make sure the led bulbs look like they will fit.

I like WLED-HP6 for the cluster myself. It puts out 360 degrees of light so no hot spots.
I also am pretty sure you can replace the hvacs with # 74 bulbs

That might be the case. I was going to check today and see exactly what the HVAC bulbs were. I was going off of brian2006s kit last night because I wasnt able to get out to the car. I like the WLED-5 over the 6 because it has a top mounted led along with 4 radially mounted ones. I will put up there that the 6 will work though. Thanks for the input.

3mm NEO3-x for the head light switch panel

you also need 7 bulbs for the gauge cluster on the 93-96 Camaros
10 if you want to do the high beam and turn signals.

these work best for the HVAC x 2 74-xHP3 and I have tried all 3 they sell.

and for the convertible back seat RL4410-xHP9 Rigid Loop Festoon bulb

I was only doing the color conversion for 98-02, but thanks for the info on that. It did look like the 74s would work for the HVAC, I will amend the top portion. As for the convert back and side lights, I didnt realize that they made an rigid loop festoon bulb. I didnt see that when I ordered mine a little while ago. That will go in under the top as well. Thanks a lot.

No. It is not. It is an incandescent bulb soldered into a bayonet socket plug. I even did a write-up on soldering-in a new incandescent into the bayonet socket that you can just twist to remove.

So. It's a twist to remove incandescent. I have seen pics of the LED replacement for it but I can't find the actual part name.

I did the same thing when I bought mine, and there not plug and play on the 93-96 camaro, the stock bulb is solder to the plug, so you have to break them out and pull the leads up off the LED base and wrap around the metal brackets to make them work.

My gfs car had bulbs like that. It was a pain to swap LEDs into her dash. It looked like some of the twist lock instrument bulbs would have worked well in her car though. Are those the kind that are in the earlier camaros?
