So its been a while since i have had time to detail my car and really get it sqeaky clean. Today i did just that and afterwards counted almost 12 chips and a few bad door dings. Worst part of it was my paint is only just now turning a year old. just wondered how often everyone else gets great new suprises like i do?

that sucks dude....But is there maybe something wrong with the paint? My car is a 02 WS6 with the factory paint and 65,000 miles on it and has less then 12 chips on it total i think. Do you drive down gravel roads alot?

actually thats why..i was blasted by a road work crew a few weekends ago and the gravel trucks killed my *** literally i had to pull off the road..i completely forgot about that, at least i can sleep in peace kinda ..but as for the door dings no tellin

Chips are a fact of life if you are going to drive your car, and unfortuantely re-paints are typically more fragile than OEM paint, especially on the chipping part . . .

Door dings? . . . well you need to park in different locales . . . .

Depends on what brand paint you use. PPG is realy fragile when it comes for chips. And an other factor for chips is how many clear coats you have. more clear, harder paint, bigger risk for chips.

That film they use to cover the paint looks realy good. I must look into that paint.. saw them put that on a new painted vett in the paint section.

I'd rather find dings and paint chips than find that the rood paint is bubbling.

If you drive them they will get beat up...I had the whole car repainted at 100,000 miles it now has 191,000 and the front (hood and bumper) need it again...I replaced the windshield at 130,000 miles because it looked like it was sandblasted...wear and tear is something you just have to learn to live with if you drive a lot ...

Damn..too the windshield part..and yes i realize if you drive your car alot its goin to happen but the door ding thing..like you park way the hell out in the boondocks at HEB or Wal-Mart..you come back out and someone decided to park right next to you thats the thing that really gets under my skin.

I drive my car everyday and everytime I wash it I notice more and more damage.
Yesterday at work I was looking at my car and noticed I have hail damage to the quarters, never noticed it since it needs to be in the right light to see.

I will have to see about some pdr.

yea i get pretty pissed when i find a scratch or ding... i just say are effin serious and slam my front door ....lol lil dramatic but its my baby i dont want scratches on her

Black shows all the chips Really sucks...it makes washing your car an almost depressing experience...until you step back a few feet and just admire the whole car

Is there a write up on here for proper touch up? I think just touch up, clear, followed with pc? I've seen some very bad attempts to touch up paint :-\

I love driving, ill be driving my car this winter, when it has an 454 LSx inside it. Its meant to be driven, its just a car.
