Default Introducing the Racing Systems C5 front brake adapters for 93-02 Fbody

[I put this in the GP/Sponsor section this morning. Its techically a performance mod but I thought some of the apperance shoppers might be interested too]

I have 15 sets of these in stock now. This product is a Nashville Speed & Performance exclusive.

Extensive info and pictures available at: http://www.nashvillespeed.com/Fbody/...s/brakekit.htm

RCS-001 Bracket set only $285 shipped
RCS-002 Brackets and complete GM parts kit $850 shipped

These 1/2 inch thick caliper adapter brackets allow you to use 12.8" x 1.25" C5 Corvette rotors and the PBR-made C5 front calipers on any 93-02 F-body. Comes complete with driver's and passenger's side brackets high strength bolts (12.9 metric property class wheel bearing bolts, 10.9 property class pad abutment bracket mounting bolts), complete list of GM parts needed to complete installation, and thorough instructions. Total weight of installed components is equal to the components that are removed from the 93-97's, 25lbs. This brake system requires 17” wheels. E-mail me if you have any questions.

The complete kit comes with a set of Z06 pads and your choice of caliper color (standard C5 grey or Z06 red powdercoated) and all required bolts, hoses, etc. to complete the install.

These brakes are on NS&P's '96 WS6 Project car and we are very impressed with them. AWESOME BANG FOR THE BUCK! Upon request I can assemble a complete package with all required GM parts and the bracket set, $850 shipped. Installation is identical to the Baer GT (which also uses the C5 caliper) system and requires cutting off the "ears" from the LT1 spindles. LS1 spindles will also require some cutting, but a much smaller piece is removed. Please use the Wheel Fitment Template at the above link to verify caliper to rim clearance. All OEM 17" wheels should fit, please verify fit on ALL wheels before ordering and definitely before cutting your spindles!!!!

These brackets are manufactured to incredibly tight tolerances and quality checked before they are allowed to be sold. What this means is that these brackets are precise...they locate the caliper precisely and therefore the pad is perfectly situated on the rotor. The bracket will not rotate due to slack in the bolt holes and the ½ inch thickness means reduced vibration and even further mounting rigidity...and increased peace of mind. The resonant frequency of these brackets is high enough there should never be audible brake squeal. All the brackets currently in stock come with a gloss black high-temp engine enamel finish.

Advantages of this system over popular name brand brake systems are both initial cost of the entire setup, and replacement cost of the component parts. And for the road-racers out there, there are over 21 different pads available through various aftermarket companies for this caliper.

To order, go to www.nashvillespeed.com and choose the online order form from the left-hand menu.

Due to high demand we cannot GP these brackets.

There is nothink like good news <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Q: I have the stock SS Wheels and i am in the market for a good and cheap brake kit.I like your kit but i would like to buy with a set of blind drilled and slotted F/R rotor combo.
Is this possible? Stock C5 rotors are good but they also warps fast enough like the our stock F body rotors.
thanks

This setup will fit all the OEM 17" wheels, so you're fine with the 10 spoke SS's.

As for rotors. I'm pretty sure GM has a part number for a drilled and slotted rotor. Of course it will cost more but its still a bargain compared to aftermarket ones.

I'd have to recommend, if longevity is your goal, the stock, undrilled, unslotted rotor. There's a whole lot of C5 road racers who will only use the stock rotors, they say they last just as long as any of the pricey replacements. Baer's website has a seasoning proceedure that, if followed, will make the stock rotors tough as nails and they'll last almost forever, LOL.

Also, take this as my opinion, but there's a lot of road racers who will confirm this, but drilled and slotted rotors are really nothing more than an appearance mod.

Crossdrilling inevitably leads to cracked rotors...the only way to avoid this is to have the holes cast-in, like Brembo does. It does not help cooling much because although you are letting air circulate through the rotor, you are also taking away a significant amount of rotor mass that is used to store heat...heat-sink material. Lot of folks think that holes and slots help with pad out-gassing. Actually, modern pads don't release gases like they did 15 years ago. Not to mention all those holes and slots reduce the surface area the pad has to bite on, so you're not going to stop as quickly.

Check out the road racing board at corvetteforums.com, those guys will recommend stock C5 rotors for long life.

Now, if you want something that looks good, go for the drilled and slotted...it would be perfectly fine on the street and last a long time...I just don't want you to spend more money because you're under the impression that they are better than a regular rotor.

After discussing it with the manufacturer, we've decided to offer an introductory price break for this batch of brackets.

RCS-001 Adapter brackets w/bolts, instructions, and GM parts list $249.00 Shipping will be an additional $10 per set.
