Default friggin 3rd brake light!

ok so i went to go nightshade my 3rd BL and once i pulled it off i saw that the screw holes were all rotted out and the thing has only been hanging on by one screw. and THEN i noticed the wires running to the light have been spliced and heat rapped together so i can't even take the damn thing off with out cutting wires and even then theres hardly any slack to allow me to resplice the **** back together. and thats provided i can even find another light because so far i can't find a stock unit anywhere.

help?
1. need stock 3rd BL
2. i need a way to connect the new one
3. if i can't get a new one how do i fix the old one?

1. that is WAY more wire than you need to splice it back, unless you totally suck at wiring

2. take your spoiler off...you can get more slack

3. stock SS lights are atleast $220 @ the stealership...only place to get them.

well...that sucks. i'm a dunce when it comes to wiring so i cant help ya there. but, i've heard from several people (not sure 100%) that you dont legally need a 3rd brake light. if thats the case, and/or you dront really care (i probably wouldn't), i'd say just forget it, snip the wires, get some new screws, paint it how you want, put it back on, and call it a day. 2 brake lights is enough.

hawksthirdgenpart has them for $50, head over to their site and take a look. The only difference between the one they sell and the one that you would get from the dealer is that hawks doesn't have the connector at the end of the harness, you need to splice it in with the existing wiring. It's an exact match to the factory one, even down to the SLP part number on the lens.

Mine did the same exact thing and I ended up getting some black plastic washers that fit the screws but are slightly larger than the recessed holes for the light. The screw wont fit all the way into the recessed hole and will stick out slightly along with the washers with this method but it doesn't look that bad and is way cheaper.

I actually bought a new light from hawksthirdgen but decided not to use it until my existing one gets worse, eventually they all crack so I'll put off installing the new one as long as possible.
