Corvette FRCs on my Bird + engine bay stuffs
UPDATE: Stripped the spraypaint from the FRCs using a plastic safe degreaser, shined up, installed, and took pics. Also painted and installed a new upper bumper cover support. Thoughts? Should I paint them a different color? I'm pretty happy with leaving it as is. The paint stripper removed the spraypaint but left the OEM red paint inside the Corvette logo... Pretty good stuff.

I picked up a set of Corvette fuel rail covers from a friend for $40 so I cut into 'em with a dremel and threw 'em on my car last night. I had to bend the AIR tubing on both sides, disconnect the solenoid-vacuum-thing-mount on the drivers side, unclip the electrical tube clipped to the fuel rails, move the secondary AIR solenoid thing behind the drivers side cover off to the right and up, and cut the metal foil wrapped around the fuel lines, and separate the fuel lines. As for the cuts, I had to make a relief cut for the oil dipstick, a cut for the throttle cable bracket, and one for the EVAP fuel line. Didn't have to hack into the back of the covers at all because of simply moving stuff. I might have to make a relief cut for the drivers side AIR tubing but for now it's fine.
What color(s) do you guys think I should paint them? I'm not going to fill in the CORVETTE lettering. Open to other ideas.
Here's what I'm thinking of:

Here's what I'm thinking of:
- Metallic black (I like this one the most because it's not distracting)
- Metallic black with pewter accents (5.7, CORVETTE)
- Repaint red with black accents (5.7, CORVETTE)
- Pewter with black accents
- Custom?

I did mine in a metallic bronze color, and pinstriped chevrolet free hand in black with a silver border. I vote pewter with black accents. It will blend in really nice with the rest of the engine bay. Love the way mine looks with the pewter.

If you're not going to fill in the Corvette lettering, my vote goes for pewter with black lettering. And x2 on the !wire mod.
Also, are you going to leave the old V6 emissions stickers on the driver's shock tower?

^dude, the engine bay looks great, as always. but resize your damm pics, your screwing with my screen. everythings all streeeeeetched out
personally i think the frc's look great right now, even with the corvette lettering. looking at the before/after, the red adds a LOT to your engine bay. so i vote to keep them red. if anything, just add some black accents

1st off good job on the cuts getting these to fit aint easy.
Deff. color match the car and emblempros can make a strip to cover up the Corvette I believe. Highlighting the 5.7 lines black is a good idea also.
I can get these done up for ya if you want also.

Thanks, all!
Maybe, maybe not.
If you want to get technical, it isn't a Trans Am either.

I was thinking about getting those covers but the price and the fact that the paint on yours is already chipping turned me away from them... Still, a great design for a FRC and your cars engine bay is beautiful.
Thanks, I just took my time and used the right dremel bits. For the drivers side cover I took some wax paper and 3M spray adhesive, traced the outline of the existing fuel line hole, measured the distance on the engine between the EVAP and FUEL lines, marked the distance on the FRC, and moved the template on the FRC. I used 3 different dremel bits to cut that. When I was done cutting I just peeled the wax paper off. The other cuts were easy to figure out where to make them once I moved stuff on the engine out of the way. I'll take pics of the panels and cuts on them when I take them off to paint.
I was thinking I could always put on one of those stainless panels that just covers up the lettering if I wanted to, or I could fill it in and repaint it.
It's the above, or have a vinyl shop make a HONDA VTEC vinyl that goes over the whole cover.

There are clips built into the covers that clamp onto the factory fuel rails and a few of the bolts holding the coil pack bracket to the valve cover. The only clip that doesn't seem to be working is the drivers side rear fuel rail clamp (or something in that area, maybe a missing coil bracket bolt), but it's not an issue because the other 4 mounting points on that fuel rail cover work fine. The fitment is a lot better than on some of the other cars I have seen!
