Default Aluminum Gas Fill door

Anyone know where to get a Gas Fill door that's aluminum...

Like the ones that come on the Mustang Bullitt, or the Audi TT?

Thanks,
Jon

I did it 2 weeks ago to my car. It was not "hard" at all. It just took me a LONG time because I had to get it PERFECT (or as close as possible). I added and removed spacers, tested, and then filed the edge of the door a little untill it fit nice and flush. Now it looks like it came "stock" on the car. A number of people have asked me "what year Camaro is that?"

The hardest part for me was saying good bye to $130+ . But now I LOVE IT!

Putting all the stupid "rice" comments asside Ive been thinking of doing this.. the factory door is a chinzy POS thing and this is much smoother looking..

However.. I think that on any car other than silver that they look MUCH better painted.. Mine would be Pewter with stainless screws.. on red i would do it all in red JMO

On my car its no biggie but on an LE I would be concerend with the slight cutting involved..

Steve,
First off, thank you for "putting aside" all the stupid rice comments. That seriously get's EXTREMELY old. I caught that comment in another post about the clear corners on your old cam, and how they came stock that way.. that was smooth.

Now that that is said, I too really think the door is REAL chinzy, and I want to do something different with it. I'm going with a red/silver motif with a little gloss black here and there. There is however a plan for alot of aluminum parts in the interior, i.e. door sills, shift ****, pedals, air vents, etc... and the gas-door might match my CME tips, and aluminum antenna.

I totally agree though... don't want to cut into an LE... that's why I was hoping that someone would make something that would be ideal, and I bet alot of people would go for a replacement door for that "chinzy" stock one. Well your word holds more weight than mine with the sponsors.. maybe they'll listen to you.

Is the whole door a billet aluminum, or is it part plastic???

Did you get the door from a dealership or from a mits. sponsor???

oh...I noticed you guys are talking about the "cutting". I didn't have to "cut" any on the body. I have an 01 and it seems that they must have already opened that "area" that needed cutting. I did however do a little filling here and there jsut to make it a little more "perfect".

That looks cool. I bet it would really look good on my black 99 Z. How much was the total cost for installing it? I never thought of doing that, but if its not too much, I probably will.

I happen to like the look. I just added that to my list of mods for the car. Now, if I could just figure out a remote release button, I'd be REALLY happy.

My friend just did this with very minor modifications. he used a 1995 Mitsu Eclipse aluminum one. they were an option on those cars, and they fit our body curvature. hope that helps.

Well, I am not one for alot of exterior mods. I really like to keep the car clean with just a minimum of fan fair....

But, I can say this; A well done brushed aluminum fuel door on a silver or pewter car would look very very nice. very nice....

Im still talking myself into doing this.. but in my case I think I would paint it pewter to match the car.. OR I will have my stock one reworked to get rid of the stupid pull tab (AKA nose)..

I would like to buy one that is for a mustang (the remote control kind) where I could press a button on my keyless entry and it will hydorocially (sp?) open up. That would be pretty cool... especially if I painted it NBM to match my car.
