Replace exterior lights with LED's? Man Im sick of replacing my day time running lights and melting sockets and all that fun shit. Is it okay to simply replace the halogen bulbs with LED's? Where can I get LED's? Im talking about replacing everyt single bulb (brake, running, side markers, whole nine yards) |
I just disabled my DRL's so they don't stay on all the time. Turn signals still function properly. On both of my Camaros. |
I like the way it looks with them on, but I hate replacing them its a pita. So I just want to get some LED's uder there and see how long they last, is there a website where I can buy some LED's? Or autozone it? |
I know some of the parts stores carry them, most I've seen is the red ones. Only thing with those is they shine strait out and don't reflect off the chrome in the housing. This website here was listed at the bottom of this thread under the last post. http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...FRwUawodvV7ghg |

All I did with that proceedure was just unplug the C2 connector. Yes it disables the DRLs and yes the lights become manual and yes the E-brake light doesn't light when the handle is pulled . Only issue with that is with a manual you can't pop the hatch with the car running, unless you have a spare key. Auto's will still pop when the car is in park. |
You mean the hatch can just pop open randomly in a manual car? I have a WS6 too apparently its a different method according to that site, so I guess Ill stick with LED's |
No with a manual it cannot randomly open, mis-type above it was meant as can't, will fix. You have to shut off the car to electronically open the hatch. Pretty sure with a TA you can use the same method, only difference is TA's already don't have the automatic lights. I'm probably do the solder job on mine now with the info above, and the fact I have a soldering iron now and know how to use it. |

So does anyone know for a fact if I can unplug the C2 connector in my WS6 wthout any adverse affects? I dont care about brake light and I hardly ever open my trunk. |
I'd say pull the radio, and if that little black box is in there I'd say your good. Unplug the C2, then check to see if it worked and that the turn signals work, if not plug it back in. |
if i disable my automatic headlights will i be able to get my halos to turn on by just turning my fog lights on? |
If they are rigged through the parking light system, yeah. Do they come on when you hit the keyless? If they're rigged through the DRL/Turn Signal, then no but will still work when the signals do. My SS has Halos wired to the parking lights, no problems at all. |

Well as ghetto as it may seem I am going ahead and trying this C2 method out, Im tired of replacing sockets and bulbs every few months. When I turn my head lights on will the DRL's turn on as well? Or do they primarily turn to blinkers? |
Once disabled the DRLs will not turn on at all, lights on or off. They work normal with the turn signal and with the lights on, it works like it did before, the bright part of the bulb will just be a blinker now. Just lights and parking lights. There is no danger in this, it just keeps the DRLs from burning out the bulb which is also used for signals. Of couse in the Camaro by doing this you also have to turn the lights on manually, big deal. Plus there is an idiot chime if you leave them on when you turn the car off. I've figured out how to disable DRL's in every car I've owned that had it, from the Grand Prix's I've had to the 08 Cobalt SS and the Girls 08 Cobalt Sport. Of course the newer cars have that switch to kill them, it just gets tiring. Just give it a try, make sure the e brake is off and check it out, if you don't like it you can always plug it back in. |
