which cme tips should i get OEM Style tips http://6litereaterdesigns.com/store/...roducts_id=117 Stainless center tips http://6litereaterdesigns.com/store/...products_id=32 I'm leaning towards the stainless center tips that have the thinner lip because i feel it would go well with my chrome wheels. Any thoughts? |
I like the stainless ones |
i just like the thicker look of the OEM style ones |
word, i like the cast look cause the stainless (or any thin wall) is more obviously 'custom' if you like that look its a great piece though. i also like the 1 big single outlet mark makes |
I had those OEM polished ones before. I got it from ebay. However, they're not truly OEM just to let you know. |
OEM Style! |
to be honest the only ones i've ever liked were the OEM ones, the stainless just seem too thin to me.. I have some of the thicker polished OEM style ones, but still don't have a valence.. |
damn! i never knew how expensive these things were... I would go w/ the OEM ones. |
oem for sure! |
yeah, i know they arent slp oem. but they are oem style. and its kind of weird i like the SS ones because they are thin. i wonder what the 2.5" ss ones look like. it almost seems like the 3" is a little bit too big for the valance and to me it kinda throws off the look a little. |
I'm running the 3" SS CME with lip because I have a dual 3"exhaust (MAC mids with flanges cut off replaced with V bands so straight 3" to 3", then bullet cats, H-Pipe, dual 3" over axle). Without the CME, it was honestly too loud and annoying. With the CME it sounds PERFECT. That extra piping smooths the flow out (like Mustangs have since their mufflers are further back). I like the SS CME because it doesn't impede, OEM CME gets a little raspy... I have the lip on mine though and even the wife thought they looked good. The 3" is a little big but on the car on the ground you don't notice it. Only in these crouched down rear shots do you notice. However, if you don't have true dual 3" like me I would just go 2.5"... They definitely are expensive though. I JUST FINALLY put a CME with these tips on my own car LAST WEEK as, sadly, I never had the extra money for them before  ! |
I just got the cheaper ebay ones. $100, which is still too much for tips IMO but I'd kick my own ass if I paid $300+ for tips. |

These: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-PAIR-Camaro-...item2306267a4d Now there's some better ones with the side entry for $130, I would have gotten those if they were on there at the time. If I didn't already have a nice caback I would have just used the big single with one entry. |

Just the ones like you sell with the inlets in the back. Isn't that normal pricing for those? http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/v...C_0979_800.jpg and we're talking about these... http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture012.jpg |

I don't think you're talking about the same tips... I think you're talking about these: http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/v...C_0979_800.jpg and we're talking about these... http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture012.jpg I like those stainless ones better myself, alot of guys don't, but they look kinda "racy" lol. But still too much $$$ for tips. |
Here's a better deal IMO, and there's one for $160 w/o the elbows, not as good a deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/1993-2002-Camaro...item1e5afd24c0 |
^^Yeah that's what I thought. I've been trying to find a cheap supplier for OEM style CME but no luck. There's a guy on ebay a little cheaper than what I even pay but his $hit breaks too much for me to carry it. Those tips are nice though. Just no room for them under my car... |

I used to have those tips except the polished ones and they felt really sturdy. I don't know what you mean by them breaking. I honestly sell SS tips to his customers quite a bit... |
^^Maybe the install people aren't using the correct rubber isolators, I don't know. Good business for me, just to bad the peeps are out the money. My friend even had some. Kept trying to get re-welded but it is really hard due to the material and he finally gave up. There needs to be a brace in the casting method... There is a different ebay seller though that has them and they seem to hold up a little better. |
Yeah, we just ran our brace between the actual pipes near the tips instead of trying to mess with the tips themselves. I'll get some pics later. I'm sure this is one of those "you get what you pay for" type things, I'm sure Marks are of higher quality. This valance, I mean its nice for the $$$, but if I had paid $400 for it they would have got it back for exchange or refund. |
When i get the extra money and a new GMMG system on the car. Ill be going with the huge single CME tip from 6LE. |
i like the oem tips better, with out the lip they look weird and the 3" looks to big IMO |

See, one thing I don't like with the side entry tips is that you can see the pipes too well. Can't see mine at all. Got a couple pics tonight, FWIW. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q.../camaro180.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q.../camaro182.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q.../camaro189.jpg |

Thats what I have and I love it. I finally got it welded on and just haven't got any recent pics. Here is the test fit after installing the cme valence. |
