Wax the SS Hood Scoop (UH)
Michigan's a cold shitty place from November to March, so when April got warm.. it was time to wax the car! Camaro SS's want wax like women want bikinis and Arnold wants Sarah Connaaahr.
Waxing the entire car was a given; polishing, claybaring, & waxing the Hood (and Rear Spoiler) was an experiment.
And given the wow 'ahead-of-schedule' still-not-dark-yet time of day, for the first time ... applied Wax to the Underside of the hood.
4th Gen Camaro SS Hoods are entirely functional, RAM-Worthy, and full of testosterone. Mine was dirty from the winter months.
I waxed the entire car, .. why not wax the SS Hood Scoop ram air ducts, underhood?
What say you
did I miss a spot?
a common occurence, what's the commotion.
most people don't look there.. why wax?
Smooth, curvy, cold fresh Air. Add a beer & it's Heaven
*PS* added a few pics of the Top of the hood

poll's to ask when people wax their cars, if they also wax under the hood.
I never have before, since it's a 'dirty' area that isn't seen often. So was curious, how much effort other folks put into in keeping it clean on their daily driver.
I guess could've simplified the poll by asking "Do you wax under your hood?" ...... lol
A. Yes
B. No

hmm interesting point on clearcoat. Even without it, the wax should have some effect preventing dirt/oil/grit buildup. Clearly, your only option is to unbolt your hood and spray on a coat of clearcoat where's the Krylon

umm...u lost me at...but, I wax the underside of my hood because I had it clear coated when I painted it. For the most part ppl don't have their underhoods clear coated which gives them no purpose to waxing it. I had it clear coated because its a lot easier to clean that way.

looks good all cleaned and waxed.
like others have said, theres no real in waxing point if theres no clear coat. i just wiped it down when i was the car, (since water gets in there), and thats good enough for me.
but, you missed a HUGE spot. its called your engine bay.
clean that thing up! if you ever pop the hood thats what gets noticed first.

hahah i noticed that too, it's a mess. A winter's worth of road salt & rubbage.
Can you recommend a good way [specific cleaners, chems, sprays] to clean the valve covers, intake, accessories.. ?
It snow flurried this morning, but was no obstacle to changing the oil. Should get back into the 60's (Fahrenheit) during the week. Want to replace some exhaust clamps, & cleanup the rest of the missed spot (aka engine bay)

The underside of the hood looks great ... Now as others have said ... Clean your engine bay or its pointless I know I would never notice the underside of the hood if the engine bay is dirty!
