Default Yes or no to a OEM SS hood?

I'm so confused right now. I've always liked how the SS hood's looked and have always been thinking about getting one. I found a OEM one for $700 shipped and its Lt pewter. I want to get it, but then I don't because I'd have to pay $700 for a hood! . So what do yout guys think, keep the stock Z or pay the $$$ for the OEM SS one. I was trying to save money, hehe.

depends, what else are you saving for? if your on bald tires...then don't get the hood. if your wallet isn't fitting into your pants anymore...get the hood.

the car looks badass as it is, but a nice ss hood would definitely add to it. but like u said, if youre trying to save money then hold off on it. your call, good luck!

MasterEvilAce - Thanks!

stoleit - Hehe I don't have bald tires (yet) but am looking into getting ET streets. That would make my 3rd set of rims/tires (Stock for winter/track, Z06's for autocross and crusing around, ET streets for drag racing).

Donate52 - I feel the same way. The hood would add to the car, but I don't exactly want to spend $700 since I put quite a bit of money into the car already.

Dude, $700 for a FACTORY hood that is going to match the color of your car is a steal. I say go for it. If you end up buying a hood later, you are gonna end up getting an aftermarket that doesnt fit as well. Know that list on an SS hood from GM is about $1800 and even if you can get it at cost its still about $1000-1100.

I was going to say the exact same thing. $700 is a steal for an OEM hood! I'd say go for it if you arn't strapped on cash. But I know how that goes, in a bit of a bind myself. Once again, it's a toss up between the car and priorities I still say go for it though, good luck!

700 is a steal, considering you wouldn't have to paint it. Based on that alone, I would buy it.

I'm more a fan of the Ulta Z hood, but like said above, it would cost ALOT more.
I say go for it, if the funds allow you too.

Your car already looks really nice but I'd go for the factory part. 9 times out of 10 they fit much better than the aftermarket junk.

As stated above, $700 for an OEM SS Hood that is already painted is an excellent deal.

Mad I have went threw the same thing I wanted an SS hood but after going to several car show what do you see? Just about every Z28 has a SS hood on it.After I thought about it for a while.Im getting the VFN 3 inch SS hood so I dont look like everyone else running around but the car is sweet as it sits. You ever though about getting a different fuel door? I just bought one for my car off of ebay?Just my .02 cents an SS Hood would make the cool look good though.

Madice, if you can afford the hood now, and you think that you ever might want it, BUY IT! Even if you don't use it, you could resell it for basically the same cash.

I think the last touch your car needs is a hood. The VFN hoods are nice, I've seen a couple in person, but the OEM hood still looks/fits better, IMO.

If you can swing it, I say go for it. It will make your already awesome looking car that much better.

Don't buy it because I want it. I'd get it painted red for that price.

1320_PERFORMANCE - If I decide to pass I'll let you know about the hood.

WhiteDeathLS1 - Yea which is why I really want it but don't want to drop $700.

RJF - I was really thinking about a 2inch cowl from VFN. So I dunno, maybe that would be better? (more unique)

Tudds - Very nice, but did you still have to paint it. I'm sure brought the total price up quite a bit.

RPM WS6 - Thanks and thats mainly why I was asking the question on here. My car looks good with the stock hood, so should I really dump $700 for a SS?

Well I decided to decline the hood. A good deal yes, but then their are a few reasons I decided not to get it. Yes it would look good on the car, but then everyone's camaro pretty much has a SS hood at shows. My car looks badass with the stock hood and not to many people car say that, heh. And also the fact that I'd rather keep the money for more important things. I'm sure I'll be able to find a better deal in the future or maybe someone will make a badass unique hood like the one on the C5R camaro .

If the seller wants I'll post his e-mail addy for those that were intrested.

No! The car looks nice enough and I bet that 700.00 is pretty comfortable in your pocket.
