Default Headlight question

I'm working on a 1998 Camaro that was in an accident, the headlights were destroyed and the person threw them out. They bought a set of aftermarket lights and there are some kind of lightbulb sockets needed. From what I can tell it looks like the stock sockets on the stock lights, it is on the low beam side of the aftermarket ones, they are Lokatech Sonars.

Does this sound correct? If so them I'm going to need them sockets.

Also, there is extra wiring on the Lokatechs for the Halo and other little lights in them, where would these get wired too? I was thinking that they need to be powered and a switch mounted somewhere in the interior.

Thanks.

Got a pic of them? My guess is it takes an H1 bulb for the low beam, and high beam is probably stock 9005. But to hook up an H1 bulb you need the adapter, which the housings should have come with.

For the LEDs/halos/whatever, if you want them on, connect them to some sort of 12V power source. You could do a switch inside, or if you want them always on just tap into a 12V source under the hood. Some people connect them to the fog lights, others go to the DRLs but the issue with that is then they blink with the turn signals.

Ya I've been looking for the housings for the bulbs, no luck so far. I'll have to email the place they were bought from.

The car doesn't have foglights..I was suprised when I saw that.

On the back of the light there are 3 screws that appear to hold the bulb, now that I think about it and got a better look at it, it looks like just the light bulb goes in.

I sent an email and the place said that this is all that was sent, and they recommend "Professional installation.." lol..

So who can tell me a good bulb to put in?

the socket covered by the white sticker is your high beam and the stock 9005 bulb just slides right in. The other wire already has the h1 bulb already plugged in, you just need to attach that connector to your stock wiring for the low beam

Oh OK!

Yes, the 9005 bulb goes right in there. The screws are for the tabs on the bulbs to lock into. It does look kinda funny at first glance but put a 9005 bulb up to and it it makes sense. They are actually a little stronger than just a plastic tab sticking out, I guess maybe that is why they used screws. The factory lights had metal tabs I think.

Those housings are the ones I have. I put a 35W 5000k H1 HID bulb in the low beams

Ok good info fellas, thanks for the help.

Well I guess I need them sockets, anyone happen to have a set?

I've seen a few aftermarket lights come as an assembled unit, what would be a good one to get?

You keep sayin 9005, is that what it would be at the part store?

Thanks.

No no... the 9005 is the BULB. The bulb itself goes there. Same bulb as what is on the stock headlight high beams.

What do you mean by the sockets?

The harness plugs into the 9005 bulb. The 9005 bulb goes into the headlight housing and twists to lock into place. There is nothing else more to it than that.

Ya the bulb slides in that spot.
That's what I was asking up there..lol..
I've seen some that are just a bulb and you have to put it in a socket..or bulb housing..then install it into the light. I figured these were an assembled unit, I was just asking to make sure.

So if I went to oriellys they should have that 9005 bulb?

Yeah they should. Autozone, Advance Auto, NAPA, Walmart, they all have it.
