Default 93-97 HID conversion..... low beams and fogs

After searching and googling I can't come up with any definite answer.

I want HID's in at least my low beams, and fogs. I can't find any aftermarket housings that will fit the 93-97 camaro. Is there anything wrong with just siliconing the HID bulbs into the stock housings? Don't tell me they aren't HID specific housings and will blind oncoming traffic yada yada... I know. From a mounting depth and heat standpoint... will HID bulbs fit in the stock housings, and will they generate too much heat or will it be ok? What will be involved in getting them to fit?

I'm going with a 55w 6000k for the low beams, and a 35w 5000k for the fogs. I'll be getting the kits from DDMtuning. I'm also interested in doing HID's for the high beams but can't find a solution since they are a separate housing and function separately all together.

What bulb kit should I get for the low beams / fogs?

I'm also thinking of spraying a thick strip of VHT Nightshades as a cutoff on the stock housing.... any opinions on this?

I wouldn't do the night shade thing. I dont think that would work.

9006 for lows, 9005 for highs, and 880 for fogs. I wouldn't worry about heat as long as you have glass housings. My car came with one Wagner and one syilvana. One had a plastic back half of the housing. I'd worry about the plastic.

yes you can silicone them in place, or buy the eurolights conversion kit, or wait until BLSolutions has there HID projectors made for the 93-97 maros

Idk if the BLS thing is ever truly going to happen by the looks of it, and I'm sure it will cost more than most of us are looking to spend.

HIDs in eurolight housing, I do have the eurolight bulbs siliconed into my high-beams though.

Nice. I'm gonna go for it.

so with the 9005 in the high beams, will they actually function as high beams or will they be standard? I know you can buy the low/high function for them, but will they function as high beams since the car has separate housings?

yes, they will be high beams, but will still be crap compared to the HIDs in the lows.

you not supposed to run HIDs in the high beams, turning them on and off wears them out very quickly, not to mention, they usually want have enough time to warm up.

Got a set of Eurolights for my mom's '97 Camaro. She loves them. Next step is to pop in a set of 6000K HID in them. Nice thing about thse Eurolights...they're not seald beam units.

Ohhhh I gotcha. Yeah I didn't even think about the warm up time. Maybe I'll just run lows and fogs then....

I've had HID's in the lows and fogs for the last two years with no problems. I mounted all the ballast boxes on the screws that hold the parking lamps in. There is a write up on here some where with some pics I put up, I think it might be in the LT1 section though...

Nice. Your car looks sick btw, love that white on white I think I'm going to just do HID lows and fogs. I'll probably never need the highs anyway lol.

Thanks! With the Hids you shouldn't have to use your highs at all...
