I'm glad to see things going well. I'm doing the same thing to my 69 RS/SS conv. I look forward to hearing details of the completed LS1 install. Just wondering, Why no power brakes?

PendragonZ 02-21-2004 07:06 AM

Holy CRAP!

I need to go clean myself!

I was wondering the same thing about the power brakes, why not?

That shop works FAST! You should definitely be done for power tour at that rate. I just finished my firewall last night, so now I'll be doing the assembly work in the next few weeks. I'm not getting much help from my buddies though, they always seem to be busy. That shop front looks familiar, are they the ones that built that red convertible '69 with the black stripes (from pro-touring)?

Power Brakes: Well i was going to but I was talked out of it by the tech guys at Wilwood brakes.. They say power assist is unnessary if you have the right master cylinder and sufficient clamping force. Since I have 20 pistons worth of brakes im sure the clamping force is there and MP Brakes make me a custom MC with the right bore.. it makes for a cleaner look and if they are wrong I can always add a power unit. I want a firm "mechanical" feel to the brakes :)

The shop is Don Lees.. they are just about our only local shop that does LS1 fbody stuff.. and they know old stuff too. This is their first LS1 first gen conversion (have done LT1's) -- and yes.. they are a no BS get it done shop.. they do heads/cam installs in a day or two!

Thanks for the comments.. :)
