Bought a HID conversion Kit, Disable DRL's & Auto-switch on?

I bought a HID conversion kit, low beams, do i need to disable my DRL's (my foglights are always on, but i can switch it off) or Auto-Switch-On thingie in order for them to function properly?

any installation stories anybody care to share with HID conversions?

I read they might not work properly :( any help or suggestions would help alot, they arrive on thursday and i wanna sport my shit when i go to the cowboys training camp on saturday

bump, i don't want to damage my hid's which is why im asking aswell

bobbyd Aug 3, 2011 12:21 PM

nah you dont have to switch them off. you can if you want to but its not necessary. i run my hid's on most of the time on with the fog lights. when i dont want the fog lights running i just turn them off via the fog light switch. the only thing i did disable on mine was the auto-switch. but it was due to preferance nothing to do with them not running correctly.

what kit did you order? xentec?

Yeah xentec, in the FAQ it states:
"You MUST DISABLE Daytime Running Light or "Auto Switch-On" functions before the HID installation"
I never heard of people saying they needed to disable the auto switch function
I bought the 6000k temperature

Be weary of those cheap ass eBay kits. I originally bought one and neither one worked. I returned it and the replacement was junk too. I ended up buying a kit off a member here from Bada Bing and they work great. The only thing is watch the connection to
The ballast, some have to be turned around so basically it's like hooking it up backwards, for it to work properly. Might not be the case for you, I'm just speaking of personal experience.

Thx, I will keep that in mind, seriously.

I was referred over by another ls1tech member, and I heard nothing but good things about xentec, so hopefully I diddn't get a knock off.

I'll keep this thread updated about that.
