Default Opinions on hood (wrap)??

Ok I have a dilemma, my hood has a fair amount of oxidation and the clear is chipping in spots. I can get re-painted for a few hundred bucks or I could vinyl wrap it for around $100. I have wanted to play with the vinyl stuff for a little while. I'm thinking carbon fiber or just matte black. It would only be temporary unless I really liked it. What do you guys think I should do? Here's a pic for reference, fyi I photoshopped out the oxidation.

I have never liked black hoods on cars that are not black. I say spend the extra money and get it done RIGHT IMO. You won't regret it.

I agree with Ls1CamaroGuy87. Paint it. Black hoods is such an eye sore. Might have been cool 10-15 years ago and only if you drove an Integra..... Even then :-/

Vinyl is cheaper if you don't plan to paint this year.
But get a color for wrap that's close to your body color.

You should totally do that so I can have a laugh...

Seriously, though. Get it painted body color. Vinyl doesn't last nearly as long as paint.

Please don't be the black sheep of the Gen-4 family. For the love of God PAINT IT!!! I'm from the "do it once, do it right" generation. Your choice, your money, and you have to sit in that at red lights!!

Stock hoods are cheap just find a used stock hood in your color for less than paint cost and maybe cheaper than vynil...carbon vynil will look cheap on the car.

Off topic, but has anyone used the vinyl wrap on the Ram Air part of the WS6 hood? How are would it be to get it cut perfect for the area you'd want to cover?

And by the way OP, I would paint the hood to match the car.

Its pretty easy from what I have heard, you can trim it after after you have applied it.

just paint to match, or leave as is till you have the money to paint it. no point in spending that much money on a temporary solution.

you'd want to buy some "knifeless tech system" tape (google it) along with your vinyl. You lay the tape down in the design you want for the vinyl, and then you lay the vinyl over top of the tape. Once it's all laid out, you then pull up the line embedded in the tape, which will cut the vinyl to the design you created. WITHOUT using a razor blade near your car, which is a big no-no.

I like your buddies honda, with the spray paint on the tires. good job, looks clean.

I drove around for a few months with a black hood. most people had no idea till I pointed it out, but I knew, and it drove me nuts. But i have a dark blue car. Paint the hood.

Thank you. I'm going to look into that.
